Samsung is poised to unveil its next range of foldable phones, with promises of impressive upgrades that could potentially reignite interest in its foldable line. In recent years, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 didn’t quite meet users’ expectations, leading to a muted reception. However, this year could be different, as anticipation builds for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is rumored to flaunt a remarkably thin design.
Industry insiders suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 7, set to debut at the Unpacked event in July, could challenge existing norms in foldable technology with its ultra-slim profile. Earlier predictions hinted at the device closing to a thickness between 9mm and 9.5mm and opening to about 4.5mm. Yet, fresh leaks are now claiming an even sleeker design.
A well-known tipster, Ice Universe, has shared insights indicating the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might achieve a thickness of just 3.9mm when open and 8.9mm when closed. This would edge out the current titleholder for the thinnest foldable, the Oppo Find N5, which stands at 8.93mm when closed.
The pursuit of a thinner and lighter design seems to be Samsung’s guiding principle for its latest flagship. Despite the ongoing buzz, these specifications remain speculative until Samsung confirms them. Nonetheless, Ice Universe’s track record lends some credibility to these intriguing possibilities.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be powered by the robust Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and might feature a stunning 200MP primary camera. As the July 2025 launch approaches, more concrete details are likely to surface, capitalizing on the excitement surrounding Samsung’s potential innovations in the foldable smartphone market.
