Samsung’s Exclusive Foldable Colors, Australian Pricing, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Camera Sensor Revealed

Samsung is preparing a major foldable phone launch at its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, and fresh leaks have revealed new details about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. The latest information points to new Samsung-exclusive colors, Australian pricing, and some notable camera changes for the more compact foldable model.

One of the biggest talking points is Samsung’s rumored compact foldable, which is expected to compete with Apple’s first foldable iPhone, reportedly set to arrive later this year under the possible iPhone Ultra name. While Samsung appears to be making the device wider and shorter for a more compact feel, that design may come with a trade-off in the camera department.

According to the leak, Samsung was unable to fit a full triple-camera system into the smaller foldable design. Even the main camera has reportedly been scaled back compared to the higher-end Galaxy Z Fold model. Instead of the 200-megapixel sensor seen on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the new compact foldable is expected to use a 50-megapixel main camera.

The sensor is said to be Samsung’s ISOCELL GNG, measuring around 1/1.56 inches. That would make it noticeably smaller than the 1/1.3-inch ISOCELL HP2 sensor used in the 200-megapixel setup. For the ultra-wide camera, the device may use a 50-megapixel Sony sensor with an approximate 1/2.5-inch size.

While the camera downgrade may disappoint users hoping for flagship-level imaging in every foldable model, it could help Samsung keep the device slimmer, lighter, and more comfortable to use. Compact foldables are becoming increasingly important as brands try to make foldable phones feel less bulky and more practical for everyday use.

The leak also reveals what appear to be Samsung’s planned color options for its upcoming foldable lineup. Alongside the standard colors that have already appeared in leaked renders, each model may receive one Samsung online-exclusive color.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to get an exclusive “Violet Green” finish. Despite the name, the shade appears to be a very dark green tone, giving the premium foldable a more understated and sophisticated look.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 may receive a Samsung-exclusive “Pistachio” color. This option looks much brighter than the Ultra’s exclusive finish and could appeal to buyers who want something fresher and more playful.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is rumored to get a “Mint” color option, which appears to have a soft pastel style. This would fit well with the Flip series, which has often leaned into more colorful and fashion-focused designs.

Pricing details for Australia have also surfaced, and they suggest Samsung’s next-generation foldables may come with a noticeable price increase. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to start at AUD 1,949, making it the most affordable model in the lineup.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is reportedly set to start at AUD 2,699, while the top-end Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra may begin at AUD 2,999. If accurate, these prices would place Samsung’s new foldables firmly in the premium smartphone category and align with earlier reports of price increases in other markets.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will likely be positioned as Samsung’s most advanced foldable, aimed at users who want the largest display, strongest hardware, and most premium design. Meanwhile, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 could offer a more balanced option, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will continue targeting users who prefer a compact clamshell-style foldable.

Samsung’s 2026 foldable lineup is shaping up to be one of its most important yet. With Apple expected to enter the foldable market soon, Samsung may be preparing a broader range of devices to defend its lead. The addition of a more compact foldable, new exclusive colors, and multiple pricing tiers suggests the company wants to appeal to both loyal Galaxy fans and first-time foldable buyers.

The official announcement is expected at Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, where Samsung should confirm the final specifications, camera hardware, color options, availability, and regional pricing for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
