Apple seems to be shaking things up with the iPad Pro release schedule this year. Instead of the anticipated launch of the M5 model at the usual time, whispers from the tech world suggest it might hit the shelves sooner than expected, possibly by the end of this year. Recent news from Korea points to this, as mass production of the M5 iPad Pro displays has begun.
Samsung and LG are spearheading the production of these advanced OLED panels, setting the stage for a potential debut in October or November. Samsung is in charge of the 11-inch panels, while LG handles the 13-inch ones. Interestingly, this time both companies are collaborating to supply both sizes, showing a strategic shift.
In addition to the iPad Pro, Apple is pushing forward with incorporating OLED displays across its lineup. The iPad mini is set to receive this upgrade next year, followed by the iPad Air in 2027. There’s even buzz about the MacBook getting OLED enhancements, starting with the high-end Pro models.
While the M5 iPad Pro is keeping its classic design, one small but notable change is coming: the Apple logo on the back will shift to a landscape orientation. This tweak aligns with how many users, like myself, naturally use the device—making the logo upright when held sideways.
As for performance, the M5 chip promises boosts in speed and graphics, being built on TSMC’s 3nm process. While the design keeps a familiar look, the real question is: will the improved performance be compelling enough to upgrade from the M4?
