Retroid Pocket Duo Shipping Date Confirmed as Launch Discount Nears Its End

Retroid Pocket Duo Shipping Starts October 21, Discount Still Available

Retroid is finally preparing to ship the Pocket Duo, its premium dual-screen Android gaming handheld. After opening pre-orders in September, the company has confirmed that shipments will begin on October 21, about one week later than the original mid-October target.

The Retroid Pocket Duo sits at the top of the company’s new dual-screen handheld lineup, which also includes the Pocket Duo Lite and Pocket Duo Lite Plus. While the Pocket Duo Lite started shipping shortly after its announcement, buyers of the higher-end Pocket Duo have had to wait a little longer.

The good news is that Retroid has not indicated any staggered rollout by color or model. That means customers should not have to worry about certain color options shipping earlier than others, which can sometimes happen with smaller handheld gaming brands.

For anyone still considering a purchase, the Retroid Pocket Duo remains available at a discounted price until October 31. The handheld normally costs $269, but buyers can use the coupon code “DUO” at checkout to take $20 off the price.

The Pocket Duo is designed for players who want a modern Android handheld with a dual-screen setup. It features a 5.5-inch 16:9 OLED display on top and a 4.5-inch 4:3 OLED display on the bottom. Both screens support a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, making the device appealing for retro gaming, Android games, streaming, and emulation.

Powering the handheld is the Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-7790, which is closely related to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 platform. It is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage, giving users enough performance and flexibility for a wide range of games and apps.

The Retroid Pocket Duo also includes symmetrical thumbsticks, a 180-degree free-stop hinge, a built-in cooling fan, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB 3.1 Type-C port with DisplayPort support. Battery capacity is rated at 6,000mAh, with support for 27W fast wired charging.

Another major highlight is the software. The handheld ships with Android 16 out of the box, giving it a newer software base than many competing Android gaming devices.

Retroid is offering the Pocket Duo in a single hardware configuration but with five color options. This keeps the buying process simple while still giving customers some room for personalization.

Alongside the Pocket Duo and Pocket Duo Lite, Retroid has also introduced the Pocket Duo Lite Plus. That version uses the same processor as the Pocket Duo but keeps the design and several features of the more affordable Pocket Duo Lite. Pre-orders for the Lite Plus are already open, with shipping expected to begin in mid-November.

With dual OLED displays, a powerful Qualcomm chip, expandable storage, modern wireless connectivity, and Android 16, the Retroid Pocket Duo is shaping up to be one of the more interesting handheld gaming devices of the year. For buyers who have been waiting, October 21 is now the date to watch.
