Redmi Turbo 5 Max Teased: Xiaomi Promises Near-Flagship Power at a Mid-Range Price

Xiaomi is gearing up for a major launch event in China, and one of the most talked-about devices expected to debut is the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. Positioned as an “upper mid-range” smartphone, the Turbo 5 Max is shaping up to deliver near-flagship power at a more affordable price point. It’s also widely rumored that the same device may arrive in international markets under a different name: the Poco X8 Pro Max.

The biggest confirmation so far is the processor. Xiaomi says the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will be among the first smartphones powered by MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9500s chipset. This “s” variant is being pitched as a high-performance option in the upper mid-range category, and Xiaomi’s own teasers suggest it can compete strongly even against premium-class rivals.

To support that claim, Xiaomi is highlighting an AnTuTu V11 benchmark score of 3.61 million points for the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. For context, phones running the non-“s” Dimensity 9500 have posted lower average results in official rankings, making Xiaomi’s number stand out even more. The company also positions this performance as surprisingly close to what some devices with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 are achieving in the same benchmark environment—an attention-grabbing comparison for anyone shopping for performance without paying full flagship prices.

Gaming is another area Xiaomi is emphasizing. According to the company’s promotional figures, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max is capable of delivering smooth, high-frame-rate gameplay across popular genres. Xiaomi claims average performance of around 120 FPS in MOBA games, about 60 FPS in RPG titles, and up to 120 FPS in FPS games. These numbers indicate a focus on sustained performance, not just short bursts, which is often what buyers in this segment care about most.

While Xiaomi hasn’t locked in a public launch date yet or revealed the full specification sheet, it has previously hinted at a price around the “2.5K” range in China. That typically points to roughly CNY 2,500, which converts to about $359, reinforcing the idea that this phone is designed to deliver top-tier speed at a mid-range cost.

With a new Dimensity 9500s chipset, an eye-catching AnTuTu score, and gaming-focused performance claims, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max is already shaping up to be one of the most competitive upper mid-range phones of the month—especially if it does go global as the Poco X8 Pro Max.
