Xiaomi Hints at a Bold New Poco Phone in Striking Orange

Poco M8 Power 5G teased in India with a massive battery and bold orange design

Poco is preparing to expand its M-series lineup in India with the upcoming Poco M8 Power 5G. The smartphone has appeared through an official Flipkart teaser, confirming that the launch is “coming soon” and giving fans an early look at what to expect.

The biggest highlight so far is the battery. Poco is promoting the M8 Power 5G as a phone built for long-lasting use, although the company has not yet revealed the exact battery capacity. The teaser also shows part of the device in a striking orange finish, suggesting that Poco may be aiming for a more youthful and eye-catching design with this model.

The standard Poco M8 arrived earlier in January 2026 as a mid-range smartphone and shared several similarities with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 15. Now, early clues suggest that the Poco M8 Power 5G could follow a similar strategy by borrowing hardware from another Redmi device.

According to details spotted in Xiaomi’s HyperOS codebase, the Poco M8 Power 5G may be closely related to the Redmi Note 17. If this turns out to be accurate, the upcoming Poco phone could offer a large 7-inch OLED display with a 2,396 x 1,080 pixel resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. That would make it an appealing option for users who enjoy streaming, gaming, browsing, and social media on a big screen.

The Redmi Note 17 is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, an entry-level 5G processor designed for everyday performance, efficient power usage, and reliable connectivity. If the Poco M8 Power 5G uses the same chip, it could be positioned as a budget-friendly 5G smartphone aimed at users who want strong battery life without spending too much.

Battery life may be the key selling point. The Redmi Note 17 packs an enormous 8,000mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. If Poco brings the same battery setup to the M8 Power 5G, the phone could become one of the most attractive choices in its segment for users who need a device that can last through heavy daily use.

Camera details are still not confirmed for the Poco M8 Power 5G. However, the Redmi Note 17 features a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Poco may choose to keep the same camera setup, but there is also a chance of some changes. The company has made hardware adjustments in past rebranded models, so the final specifications may differ slightly from the Redmi version.

For now, Poco has only confirmed the upcoming India launch, the large battery focus, and the orange color option. The full specifications, pricing, storage variants, and exact launch date are expected to be announced soon.

If Poco prices it aggressively, the Poco M8 Power 5G could become a strong contender in India’s affordable 5G smartphone market, especially for buyers looking for a large display, long battery life, and a stylish design.
