Xiaomi 18 and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max global launch looks more likely after new certification sighting
Xiaomi may be preparing a much bigger international rollout for its next flagship lineup. Two unreleased Xiaomi smartphones have appeared in a new EEC certification listing, hinting that the Xiaomi 18 series could launch outside China with more models than expected.
The devices carry the model numbers 2609BPN61G and 2611FPNFAG. According to a recent leak, these model numbers are believed to belong to the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max and the standard Xiaomi 18. If accurate, the listing suggests both phones are being prepared for markets beyond China.
The standard Xiaomi 18 launching globally would not be surprising, as Xiaomi has previously brought its regular flagship models to international buyers. The more interesting part is the possible global arrival of the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Its predecessor, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, remained exclusive to China, leaving global users without access to Xiaomi’s largest and most feature-packed model.
If this latest certification is accurate, Xiaomi may be changing strategy. Earlier rumors have also suggested that the Xiaomi 18 Pro could reach international markets. That means the Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max may all be available globally this generation, giving buyers outside China a much wider choice.
The launch timeline could be different from previous years. Recent reports claim Xiaomi may launch the higher-end Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max first, possibly in September, while the regular Xiaomi 18 could arrive much later, potentially in late 2026 or early 2027.
This staggered release strategy would be similar to what some other major smartphone brands are expected to do with their upcoming flagship lineups. Instead of launching every model at once, companies may focus first on premium devices and save more affordable or standard models for a later release window.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are rumored to use Qualcomm’s next high-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. This processor is expected to power the most expensive Android flagships of the next generation. Meanwhile, the regular Xiaomi 18 may use the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 instead of the Pro version, likely due to cost differences linked to newer chip manufacturing.
Camera upgrades may also be a major selling point for the Xiaomi 18 series. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is rumored to feature a 200MP main camera alongside a 200MP telephoto macro camera. Both sensors are expected to be larger than usual, which could improve low-light photography, zoom quality, and detail capture.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max may share the same camera hardware while adding extra premium features. Rumors point to stronger speakers and a larger vibration motor, which could improve audio performance and haptic feedback. These upgrades would help Xiaomi position the Pro Max as its most advanced flagship model.
Battery life could be another highlight. The smaller Xiaomi 18 Pro is rumored to include at least a 7,000mAh battery, which would be unusually large for a flagship phone. If true, it could give the device a major advantage over many competing premium smartphones, especially for users who prioritize long screen-on time.
For now, Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the Xiaomi 18 series specifications, launch date, or global availability. Qualcomm has also not confirmed the rumored chipset details. As with all early leaks, the information should be treated with caution until official announcements are made.
