High manufacturing costs, complex internal layouts, display durability, camera placement, and component packaging have all made the dream difficult to turn into a real consumer product.

Now, TECNO is showing what that future could look like with a striking 0mm bezel-less smartphone concept. The device is designed to deliver a completely uninterrupted display experience, with no visible border around the screen. If the concept works as shown, it could represent one of the boldest steps yet toward a true full-screen smartphone.

The TECNO 0mm smartphone concept is expected to appear at the IFA 2026 trade show, where it will likely attract major attention from mobile technology fans. However, there is currently no confirmed release date, pricing information, or indication that the device will enter mass production.

What makes this concept stand out is not just the thinness of its bezels, but the claim that the borders have been eliminated entirely. Most modern flagship phones still have a small black frame around the display, even if it is slim enough to be easy to ignore. TECNO’s concept goes further by aiming for a seamless front design where the screen appears to stretch from edge to edge without interruption.

To achieve this, TECNO says it used advanced internal stacking, structural engineering, and new packaging methods. These techniques are necessary because a smartphone’s bezel is not just a visual border. It often contains important structural support, display wiring, touch components, and other internal elements that help the device function reliably.

Removing that space means engineers must find new ways to fit and protect everything inside the phone. That makes a 0mm bezel design far more difficult than simply reducing the black border around a display.

The concept also appears to use an under-display camera to preserve the full-screen look. This allows the front camera to sit beneath the screen rather than inside a punch-hole cutout or notch. The contrast is dramatic. A device with even slim bezels can suddenly appear dated when placed beside a phone that seems to have no frame at all.

Still, the biggest question is whether this type of smartphone can actually reach buyers. Concept phones often showcase what is technically possible, but mass production is another matter entirely. A 0mm bezel phone would likely be expensive to build, difficult to assemble, and potentially challenging to repair. Durability would also be a major concern, especially if the display extends so closely to the edges of the device.

TECNO has introduced ambitious concept designs before. The company has shown ultra-slim phones with large batteries and experimental foldable designs, including a tri-fold concept. These devices generated excitement, but they did not become widely available consumer products.

That history suggests the 0mm bezel-less smartphone may follow the same path. It could serve as a preview of future display technology rather than a product ready for store shelves.

Even so, the concept is important because it shows where smartphone design may be heading. The industry has already moved from thick bezels to notches, punch-hole cameras, curved displays, and increasingly narrow frames. A truly bezel-less smartphone feels like the next natural step.
