Ubisoft confirms Rayman’s future as the franchise turns 30
Rayman is gearing up for a comeback. Ahead of the series’ 30th anniversary this week, Ubisoft has revealed that new developments are underway for the beloved platforming franchise, signaling a fresh chapter for one of gaming’s most enduring icons.
In a new video message, brand producer Loic Gounon shared that a pair of veteran studios are teaming up on what’s next. “A very talented team at Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are currently working together on the future of Rayman,” he said, while tempering expectations about timing. “Don’t expect news from us too soon, but rest assured Rayman is in good hands.”
The announcement arrives just as the original Rayman celebrates a major milestone. First released on September 7, 1995 for the original PlayStation—later arriving on the Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn, and MS-DOS—the debut laid the groundwork for a full-fledged franchise thanks to its distinctive art, whimsical worlds, and tight platforming.
While Ubisoft hasn’t shared details about platforms, release windows, or the direction of the next project, the confirmation alone is meaningful for fans who’ve been eager to see the character return. With the anniversary spotlighting Rayman’s legacy and two experienced teams collaborating, anticipation is building for what a modern Rayman experience could look like.
For now, expect a wait before concrete updates arrive. But with the series’ milestone and Ubisoft’s reassurance, the stage is set for Rayman’s next adventure to capture both nostalgic fans and a new generation of players.
