The offer appears to give PS Plus subscribers a 5% discount on the upgraded system. That may sound appealing to players preparing for Rockstar’s next massive open-world release, but the console’s high price remains a major hurdle. Following its latest price increase, the PS5 Pro now costs $899, making even a small discount unlikely to win everyone over.
Sony has already positioned PlayStation as one of the best places to experience GTA 6, and the PS5 Pro is expected to be the most powerful console option for the game at launch. However, fans are frustrated because the promotion does not explain what improvements the enhanced version will deliver. For a game as highly anticipated as GTA 6, players want clear answers about resolution, frame rate, ray tracing, and performance modes before spending hundreds of dollars on new hardware.
At the moment, Rockstar has not revealed the full list of GTA 6 PS5 Pro enhancements. That is not unusual, as publishers often save technical details until closer to launch. Still, the silence has created plenty of debate across the gaming community.

The company has faced criticism over its future plans for physical media, with many players upset about the gradual shift away from printed game discs. Recent PlayStation social media posts have attracted complaints from users who want stronger support for disc-based games.
GTA 6 has also been pulled into that conversation, as the PS5 version is expected to use a code-in-box format rather than a traditional physical disc. Even so, that controversy is unlikely to stop the game from becoming one of the biggest console sellers of the generation.

If Sony and Rockstar announce a special package closer to launch, it could become one of the most in-demand gaming products of the year. A bundle would make sense, especially with Sony already encouraging players to upgrade before the game arrives.
For now, the PS5 Pro discount gives GTA 6 fans something to consider, but it does not answer the question that matters most: what will the premium console actually add to the experience?
