GTA 5’s Michael Actor Shuts Down GTA 6 Cameo Rumors While Praising Rockstar’s Visuals

GTA 6 Gets Big Praise From GTA 5’s Michael Actor, But No Cameo Is Confirmed

Ned Luke, the actor best known for playing Michael De Santa in Grand Theft Auto V, has shared his reaction to Rockstar Games’ latest Grand Theft Auto VI footage. After the GTA VI: Extended Look arrived on August 27, 2026, Luke went online to discuss what stood out to him most, and his response was clear: GTA 6 looks like a major technical leap over GTA 5.

Although many fans would love to see Michael return in the next Grand Theft Auto game, there is currently no confirmation that Ned Luke will appear in GTA VI. For now, his comments appear to be coming from the perspective of someone who knows Rockstar’s production style well and has firsthand experience with the motion capture and voice work behind one of the biggest games of all time.

Luke was especially impressed by the improvements in character movement and pedestrian animation. According to him, the people shown in GTA VI move far more naturally than the NPCs in GTA V. He pointed out that the walking animations, body language, and eye movement appear much closer to how real people behave.

“Watch the way people move. The walks are actual human walks,” Luke said while reacting to the footage. He compared this to GTA V, noting that even though Rockstar’s 2013 blockbuster was groundbreaking at the time, some of its character movement now looks more mechanical by modern standards.

Luke also reflected on his own experience performing as Michael De Santa, saying that in GTA V, characters often looked like they had a slight stiffness in the way they stood and walked. He joked that his character’s legs never seemed fully straight and always had a small bend to them.

That difference comes down to how much animation technology has evolved since GTA V launched. Rockstar’s older game used motion-capture cycles that were blended together, with more limited tools for adjusting how hands, feet, and bodies interacted with the world. In simpler terms, NPCs in GTA V could still look like they were following pre-set movement patterns rather than reacting naturally to their surroundings.

GTA VI, based on the Extended Look, seems to use a much more advanced animation system. The result is a world that appears more fluid, grounded, and lifelike. Pedestrians no longer look like background characters simply filling the streets; they look like people with weight, balance, and personality.

Luke also pushed back against fans who claimed GTA VI looks too similar to GTA V. Some viewers argued that Jason and Lucia’s shootouts, chase scenes, and general gameplay presentation felt familiar. Others went even further, saying the graphics looked less impressive than Red Dead Redemption 2.

Luke strongly disagreed.

“This looks nothing like Grand Theft Auto V. I think they’re out of their minds. Sorry, guys, you’re wrong,” he said. He also praised the visual quality of GTA VI, saying it surpasses Red Dead Redemption 2 in his view. Looking at Jason Duval, one of the game’s main characters, Luke added, “I’ll tell you one thing: I never looked that good.”

His comments have added more fuel to the ongoing debate around Grand Theft Auto VI’s visuals and gameplay. Every new Rockstar release faces intense scrutiny, and expectations for GTA 6 are especially high after more than a decade of waiting. GTA V launched in 2013 and became one of the best-selling entertainment products in history, so comparisons are inevitable.

Still, Luke believes the jump from GTA V to GTA VI is similar to the leap Rockstar made from GTA IV to GTA V. In his view, the newer game is not just a small upgrade but a major step forward in animation, graphics, and realism.

Despite his enthusiasm, fans should not take Luke’s reaction as evidence that Michael De Santa will appear in GTA 6. As of now, Rockstar has not announced any involvement from Ned Luke, and there is no official sign that Michael, Trevor, or Franklin will return in the new game.

Even without a confirmed cameo, Luke’s opinion carries weight with longtime Grand Theft Auto fans. As one of GTA V’s three lead actors, he spent countless hours working within Rockstar’s performance capture process. That gives him a unique perspective on how far the studio’s technology has come.

For now, GTA VI continues to generate huge discussion across the gaming community. Some players are analyzing every frame for returning characters, hidden locations, and gameplay clues, while others are focused on whether the final release can live up to years of hype. Based on Ned Luke’s reaction, Rockstar may be preparing another massive leap for the open-world genre.

Grand Theft Auto VI is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated game releases ever, and if the animation and visual upgrades are as significant as Luke suggests, players may be in for a far more immersive version of Rockstar’s crime-filled open world than anything seen before.
