Rockstar Developer Reassures Fans That GTA 6 Is Still on Track for November Release
After years of rumors, leaks, and repeated delays, many Grand Theft Auto fans are still cautious about believing any GTA 6 release date until the game is actually in their hands. However, fresh comments from a senior Rockstar North developer have given players another reason to feel optimistic.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has already stated several times that Grand Theft Auto 6 is planned to launch on November 19. Now, Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson has also addressed the situation directly, suggesting that fans should not expect another delay.
In a recent interview with Japanese publication Famitsu, Nelson was asked about the highly polished look of the latest GTA 6 footage and whether the game might still miss its announced release date. His response was clear: Rockstar is pleased with the game’s current state, and GTA 6 is expected to release on time.
That statement carries weight, especially because Rockstar developers have been relatively quiet while fans debated whether the game could face yet another postponement.
The latest extended GTA 6 preview helped calm some concerns. The footage gave a broader look at Vice City, its surrounding areas, and the game’s cinematic presentation. It also placed more attention on Lucia, one of the game’s lead characters, while showing mechanics and visual details that were not present in earlier leaked clips.
Those leaks had caused fresh anxiety among fans. A mysterious leaker known as Cyberleek recently shared footage allegedly showing Jason exploring a large open-world environment, followed by what was claimed to be a Lucia prologue from a newer build of the game. The leaker suggested that the footage pointed to unfinished work and hinted that another delay could be possible.
However, Rockstar’s official extended showcase appeared far more complete and polished than the leaked material. That has led many players to believe the leaks may have come from an older build, an incomplete development version, or a limited slice of the game that does not reflect its current state.
Still, some longtime fans remain skeptical. Rockstar is known for taking extra time to polish its biggest releases, and the studio has a reputation for delaying games rather than launching them with serious technical issues. With Grand Theft Auto 6 expected to be one of the biggest entertainment launches in history, the pressure to deliver a near-flawless experience is enormous.
Former Rockstar senior animator Mike York previously suggested that a six-month delay could not be completely ruled out, pointing to the studio’s high standards and its willingness to delay major projects if needed. He also argued that a delay would likely do little to hurt sales, since demand for GTA 6 is already massive. However, those comments came before Rockstar’s latest extended footage gave fans a much stronger look at the game’s progress.
For now, the official message is simple: GTA 6 is still scheduled to arrive on November 19. While cautious fans may wait for final confirmation closer to launch, Rockstar’s latest comments and polished new footage have made another delay seem less likely.
If the date holds, Grand Theft Auto 6 will finally bring players back to Vice City with a massive new open world, dual protagonists, upgraded visuals, and the kind of detail Rockstar is famous for. After such a long wait, fans are hoping the studio’s confidence means the road to release is finally entering its last stretch.
