Pearl Abyss has reversed its stance on Intel Arc graphics card support for Crimson Desert after a wave of community backlash, and the studio now says it’s actively working on compatibility so the game can run on Arc GPUs.
The situation escalated quickly because Crimson Desert, a major Steam top-seller, surprised many PC players when reports surfaced that it wouldn’t even launch on systems using Intel Arc GPUs. Those early user reports were later reinforced by the game’s official FAQ, which stated that Intel Arc graphics cards were not supported. What frustrated players most, however, was the developer’s initial guidance: Arc owners who expected the game to work were told to pursue a refund instead.
Following the criticism, Pearl Abyss has now publicly apologized for the “confusion” surrounding GPU compatibility and confirmed that Intel Arc support is being worked on. The company also removed the earlier wording that explicitly said Arc GPUs weren’t supported, signaling a clear change in direction. While this is welcome news for Intel Arc users, the developer has not shared an estimated timeline for when the compatibility update will arrive.
The announcement also comes as Intel has indicated it is ready to assist in getting Crimson Desert running properly on Arc GPUs. With both sides now aligned, the best option for players who already purchased the game on an Intel Arc system is to hold off and wait for the upcoming update rather than assuming the current situation is permanent.
For PC gamers watching hardware compatibility closely, this is a notable turnaround: Crimson Desert Intel Arc GPU support is now officially on the roadmap, even if the release date for the fix remains unconfirmed.
