Oppo Find X10 Ultra could bring a major 10x zoom camera upgrade
Oppo may be preparing a significant camera improvement for its next Ultra flagship. A fresh leak suggests that the upcoming Oppo Find X10 Ultra is being tested with two possible 50MP sensors for its 10x periscope telephoto camera, and both options appear to be much larger than the sensor used in the current Find X9 Ultra.
According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, Oppo is currently evaluating two unreleased sensors for the Find X10 Ultra’s long-range zoom camera. Both reportedly feature a 50-megapixel resolution and a 1/1.95-inch optical format. One of the sensors is said to be Samsung’s ISOCELL GNB, while the other is OmniVision’s OV51A.
If Oppo moves forward with either of these sensors, the Find X10 Ultra could deliver a noticeable boost in long-distance photography. The current Oppo Find X9 Ultra uses a 1/2.76-inch Samsung ISOCELL JNL sensor for its 10x telephoto camera. Moving to a 1/1.95-inch sensor would mean a much larger imaging area, potentially close to double the sensor area compared with the previous generation.
That extra sensor size matters. A larger sensor can capture more light, which usually improves image quality in difficult conditions. For a 10x telephoto camera, this could result in clearer zoom shots, better night photography, improved dynamic range, and less noise when shooting distant subjects. Long-range smartphone zoom often struggles in low light, so a larger 50MP sensor could make the Find X10 Ultra one of the more exciting camera phones to watch.
The leak also claims that Oppo is keeping a dedicated pure telephoto design for the 10x camera. The module reportedly uses a quintuple-reflection prism system, rather than switching to a hybrid telephoto and macro setup. This suggests Oppo may be focusing on stronger optical zoom performance instead of trying to make the same lens handle multiple roles.
Another important detail involves the shorter zoom camera. The Find X10 Ultra is expected to keep a 200MP sensor for its 3x telephoto lens, similar to the current model. If this remains unchanged, Oppo’s next Ultra device could offer a powerful combination of high-resolution mid-range zoom and an upgraded long-range 10x periscope camera.
Of course, these details are still based on early testing. The Find X10 Ultra is not expected to launch until 2027, which gives Oppo plenty of time to adjust the camera hardware. The company could still change suppliers, modify the lens system, or revise the final camera setup before mass production begins.
Even so, the rumored upgrade points to an ambitious direction for Oppo’s flagship camera strategy. With a larger 10x telephoto sensor, a dedicated periscope design, and a 200MP 3x camera, the Oppo Find X10 Ultra could become a serious contender in the premium smartphone photography race.
