OnePlus Unveils a Sleek Magnetic Accessory Made for the OnePlus 16

OnePlus has introduced a new magnetic phone cooler in China, giving mobile gamers a compact way to keep temperatures under control during long play sessions. Called the OnePlus Magnetic Ice Card Mini, the accessory is designed to pair with the new OnePlus 16 while also supporting a wide range of other smartphones.

The Magnetic Ice Card Mini is priced at CNY 199, which is roughly $30. It joins OnePlus’ latest accessory lineup alongside the 67W SuperVOOC pocket power bank. While the power bank focuses on fast charging on the go, the new magnetic cooler is built for users who push their phones hard with gaming, streaming, video recording, and other performance-heavy tasks.

The cooler attaches magnetically to the back of a compatible phone and starts cooling almost instantly. It uses a built-in fan to pull heat away from the device, helping maintain smoother performance when the phone is under load. OnePlus includes two operating modes: a quiet mode for lower noise and a performance mode for stronger cooling. Even at its highest setting, the company says the accessory stays under 35 dB, making it quiet enough for everyday use.

Although it is being promoted with the OnePlus 16, the Magnetic Ice Card Mini is not limited to one device. Thanks to its magnetic design and included magnetic ring, it can work with many Android phones and iPhones. However, OnePlus and Oppo users get a more integrated experience, with cooling controls available directly through ColorOS for easier adjustment and optimization.

OnePlus has also paid attention to comfort. The cooler features vents positioned to move hot air away from the user’s hands, which should help keep the grip more comfortable and reduce sweaty palms during extended gaming sessions. This could make a noticeable difference for players who spend hours on competitive mobile games where hand comfort and device stability matter.

Power is supplied through USB-C, allowing the Magnetic Ice Card Mini to run from a phone, charger, or power bank. This makes it flexible for home use as well as portable gaming setups. Users who already carry a power bank can connect the cooler while playing without relying solely on the phone’s battery.

The new Mini model is smaller and lighter than OnePlus’ earlier magnetic cooler. It weighs just 50 grams, compared with 68 grams for the previous version, and measures 70 x 53.4 x 12.3 mm. OnePlus says the body is smaller than a standard credit card, making it easier to hold the phone with the cooler attached. It also arrives in a silver-gray finish, giving it a sleek look that matches modern smartphone designs.

For mobile gamers, heat management has become increasingly important as flagship phones continue to deliver console-like performance. High frame rates, demanding graphics, and long gaming sessions can quickly raise device temperatures, which may lead to reduced performance, dimmed screens, or a less comfortable grip. Accessories like the OnePlus Magnetic Ice Card Mini aim to solve that problem without adding too much bulk.

At the moment, OnePlus has only confirmed availability in China. It is still unclear whether the Magnetic Ice Card Mini will launch globally. However, similar magnetic cooling accessories from related brands are already available in select international markets, so there is a chance this compact cooler could eventually reach more regions.

With its slim body, quiet fan, USB-C power support, and broad phone compatibility, the OnePlus Magnetic Ice Card Mini looks like a practical accessory for users who want better cooling without carrying a large gaming attachment. For around $30 in China, it could be an appealing add-on for OnePlus 16 owners and mobile gamers looking to keep their phones cooler during intense use.
