NVIDIA to Launch Blackwell GB200 AI Servers for Mass Deployment in December

NVIDIA is gearing up to deploy its anticipated Blackwell GB200 AI servers by December, having resolved recent supply chain issues and bolstered their sampling processes. Excitement is building around NVIDIA’s imminent shipping of these advanced AI servers, with tech giants Microsoft and Meta lined up as primary buyers.

Rumors had circulated about potential defects in NVIDIA’s Blackwell AI products, specifically concerning TSMC’s CoWoS-L packaging technology. Addressing these concerns quickly, NVIDIA reassured stakeholders during a recent earnings call that the Blackwell series is still on track for a Q4 2024 release. More details have since emerged, courtesy of analyst Tim Culpan, shedding light on the expedited timeline.

Sources indicate that mass production, from module creation to full system assembly, will be in overdrive by early December. Both Ariel boards (featuring 1x Grace and 1x Blackwell processors) and Bianca boards (equipped with 1x Grace and 2x Blackwell processors) are expected to be ready for shipment within the same timeframe.

The first batch of Blackwell GB200 AI servers is set to ship by December, with NVL36 and NVL72 models included in the rollout. Early adopters like Microsoft, Oracle, and Meta are eager to integrate NVIDIA’s groundbreaking architecture into their operations. While mainstream availability is projected for Q1 2025, initial supply will be limited.

In terms of suppliers, Foxconn’s industrial server division (FII) is anticipated to handle the bulk of Blackwell AI server shipments initially. Additional contributions will come from Quanta, Wistron, and Luxshare. Each of these suppliers has reportedly secured at least one large-scale client, making them crucial to NVIDIA’s launch strategy. With the demand for Blackwell surging, NVIDIA is poised to see this architecture become one of its most impactful products, thanks to its impressive power and capabilities.
