NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang has acknowledged that the “restricted” supply of AI hardware has been a source of frustration for its mainstream clients. However, the company, known as Team Green, is taking significant steps to improve the situation.
NVIDIA’s Blackwell Architecture Faces Unmatched Demand Amid Market Boom
It’s no secret that NVIDIA’s products are hot commodities in the industry, drawing interest from major players like Microsoft and Meta. The supply issues have persisted since the initial AI boom, and demand has remained steady for several quarters. As a response, Team Green and its partners have ramped up production significantly in the past year. Despite these efforts, CEO Jensen Huang notes that demand continues to outstrip supply, leading to backlogs and increased business tensions.
According to Huang, “The demand on it is so great, and everyone wants to be first and everyone wants to be most. We probably have more emotional customers today. Deservedly so. It’s tense. We’re trying to do the best we can.”
The Hopper generation of NVIDIA products achieved solid sales, but it’s the upcoming Blackwell AI products that promise to revolutionize the AI market with their immense capabilities. Major clients like Meta and Amazon have already placed exclusive orders for Blackwell AI clusters, reflecting their optimism and hinting at the product’s potential success. Market indicators suggest that Blackwell could surpass all previous generations in terms of revenue, potentially becoming the most successful product in NVIDIA’s history.
NVIDIA has also underscored the vital role of Taiwanese manufacturing giant TSMC in its success. TSMC’s ability to meet NVIDIA’s demands has been impressive. However, there are concerns about relying solely on TSMC due to geopolitical tensions, which could significantly impact production if the situation deteriorates.
In light of these concerns, NVIDIA is considering diversifying its supplier base. While there have been reports suggesting that Intel Foundry and Samsung Foundry could become new partners for NVIDIA’s production, no definitive announcements have been made. Nonetheless, NVIDIA’s eagerness to secure additional partners presents a prime opportunity for TSMC’s competitors to step into the limelight.
The Blackwell series is expected to play a pivotal role in NVIDIA’s future development, likely sparking another wave of AI enthusiasm and further cementing NVIDIA’s position as a leader in the industry.
