Nitecore has once again expanded its EDC torch series with the introduction of the EDC23 Saber, an ultra-compact flashlight designed for everyday carry enthusiasts. Despite its petite dimensions, with a length of just 10 centimeters and weighing only 100 grams, this flashlight doesn’t skimp on features.
One of the standout features of the EDC23 Saber is its user-friendly USB-C charging capability, which facilitates quick recharging. However, note that its integrated 1,500 mAh battery is non-removable, which might be a consideration for those who prefer replaceable batteries.
The EDC23 Saber carries over many benefits from its larger siblings, such as an OLED display that provides status updates and power management options. Additionally, it sports a slide switch to prevent accidental activation, which is particularly useful for those on the go.
Packed with powerful UHI-25 LEDs that emit a cool white light at 6,500K, the flashlight boasts an impressive output of up to 2,500 lumens in turbo mode. This intensity allows for a range of up to 280 meters, although the light will automatically dim if it overheats. Even when the battery is running low, the turbo mode remains accessible. For extended use, the 1,100 lumen mode is ideal, as the EDC23 evenly distributes heat across its body to maintain performance.
In terms of battery life, the EDC23 offers 1.5 hours in high mode at 1,100 lumens. Other settings include a mid mode at 200 lumens for 3 hours and 45 minutes, a low mode at 65 lumens for 11 hours, and an ultra-low mode providing 15 lumens for a remarkable 39 hours. There’s also a strobe function for those seeking an additional lighting option. The flashlight is IP54 certified to withstand shocks, ensuring durability.
The EDC23 Saber is expected to hit store shelves soon, although pricing details are still under wraps. Keep an eye out if you’re in the market for a compact yet robust everyday carry torch.
