Neo: 1X Technologies’ Latest Humanoid to Revolutionize Household Chores

1X Technologies has taken a significant leap forward in home automation with the introduction of Neo, a bipedal humanoid robot designed to simplify household chores. Following an initial reveal, Neo is now entering beta testing in select homes, bringing the dream of a robotic assistant closer to reality.

Unlike its predecessor, Eve, which featured wheels for movement, Neo exhibits remarkable human-like mobility thanks to its robotic legs and feet. This design innovation allows Neo to navigate home environments with greater ease and flexibility, making it a more capable assistant for everyday tasks.

Neo integrates an array of advanced AI technologies, many of which were honed by Eve. It can understand verbal commands and perform a variety of tasks. Imagine asking your robot to bake cookies and then having it deliver them to you upstairs. Neo’s five-fingered robotic hands can perform intricate tasks like wiping down tables or providing massages without ever tiring.

Safety remains a priority for 1X Technologies. All their humanoid robots, including Neo, are overseen by designated operators who can remotely access the robot’s cameras and control systems to ensure the tasks are carried out safely.

While the company has yet to disclose whether users will be able to customize their Neo units with mechanical add-ons for specialized needs or if the robot is waterproof for assisting with bathing, the existing features are impressive. Standing at 5.41 feet tall (1.65 meters) and weighing 66 pounds (30 kilograms), Neo can carry objects up to 44 pounds (20 kilograms). With a battery life of two to four hours, Neo can cover distances at a speed of up to 7.5 miles per hour (12 kilometers per hour) and will automatically return to its charging station when the battery is low.

The arrival of Neo signifies a promising development in the field of home automation, potentially transforming how household chores are managed. The use of cutting-edge AI developed from the Eve project underscores 1X Technologies’ commitment to creating practical and efficient robotic solutions for everyday life.
