NEC Unveils Featherlight 13.3-Inch Lavie Nextreme with Intel Core Ultra 7 Power

NEC Lavie Nextreme Debuts as a 994-Gram Business Laptop With Intel Core Ultra 7 and 20-Hour Battery Life

NEC has introduced a new 13.3-inch Lavie Nextreme laptop in Japan, targeting business users who want a lightweight machine with long battery life, modern AI performance, and a practical selection of ports. Weighing just 994 grams, or about 2.19 pounds, the Lavie Nextreme is built for professionals who need a portable notebook that can move easily between home, office, meetings, and travel.

The standout feature is its carbon fiber body, which helps keep the laptop extremely light without sacrificing durability. NEC uses Toray carbon fiber and adds a coating designed to resist scratches and fingerprints, making the device more suitable for daily business use. With dimensions of 299 x 214 x 17.9 mm, the Lavie Nextreme should fit easily into a briefcase or backpack while remaining comfortable to carry throughout the day.

Inside, the laptop is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor. This chip includes an NPU rated at 47 TOPS, giving the device the performance needed for Copilot+ AI features and other AI-enhanced productivity tools. As more business apps begin to rely on on-device AI, this hardware could make the Lavie Nextreme a strong option for users who want a future-ready work laptop.

NEC pairs the processor with 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, which is a useful amount for multitasking, AI applications, large spreadsheets, video calls, browser-heavy workflows, and professional software. Storage options go up to 1 TB, giving users enough room for documents, presentations, media files, and work projects.

Battery life is another major highlight. The Lavie Nextreme includes a 74 Wh user-replaceable battery, an increasingly rare feature in modern ultraportable laptops. NEC rates the notebook for more than 20 hours of video playback based on JEITA Measurement Method Ver. 3.0, making it especially appealing for people who spend long days away from a charger.

The laptop features a 13.3-inch IPS touchscreen with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution. The taller 16:10-style aspect ratio offers more vertical space than traditional Full HD panels, which can be helpful when working with documents, spreadsheets, web pages, and productivity apps. NEC says the display is designed for wide viewing angles and strong color accuracy, making it suitable for business presentations and everyday visual work.

For remote meetings, the Lavie Nextreme includes a Full HD webcam. Audio is handled by dual 2W speakers, and users also get a combined headphone and microphone jack for calls or private listening.

Despite its compact design, NEC has equipped the laptop with a generous range of connectivity options. The port selection includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort support, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, an HDMI port, an Ethernet jack, and a microSD card slot for expandable storage or quick file transfers. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, giving the laptop support for the latest high-speed wireless standards.

The NEC Lavie Nextreme is currently available to order in Japan for 308,400 yen, which is approximately $1,935. Deliveries are expected to begin in about a week for Japanese customers.

With its ultra-light carbon fiber chassis, Intel Core Ultra processor, AI-ready performance, long battery life, user-replaceable battery, touchscreen display, and strong port selection, the NEC Lavie Nextreme positions itself as a premium compact business laptop built for mobility and productivity.
