Motorola Edge 70 Max Launches in India With Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 7,100mAh Battery, and 144Hz AMOLED Display
Motorola has expanded its Edge 70 lineup in India with the launch of the Motorola Edge 70 Max, a premium smartphone aimed at users who want flagship-level performance, long battery life, and a high-end display experience. The new model sits at the top of the Edge 70 family, joining the Edge 70, Edge 70 Fusion, Edge 70 Pro, and Edge 70 Pro Plus.
The Motorola Edge 70 Max is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, making it one of the most powerful devices in the series. The processor is paired with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, along with 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. This combination should deliver fast app loading, smooth multitasking, and strong gaming performance.
To keep temperatures under control, Motorola has equipped the phone with an ArcticMesh Cooling System. It includes a large 5,500mm² vapor cooling chamber, designed to help maintain performance during extended gaming sessions, video recording, or heavy daily use.
On the front, the Edge 70 Max features a large 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a sharp 1,440 x 3,168 pixel resolution. The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, which should make scrolling, gaming, and animations feel extremely fluid. Motorola also claims the display can reach a peak brightness of 7,000 nits, making it suitable for outdoor visibility in bright conditions.
The phone offers a 95.12% screen-to-body ratio, giving it a modern, immersive look with slim bezels. This makes the Edge 70 Max appealing for users who watch videos, play games, or browse content frequently on their smartphones.
For photography, the Motorola Edge 70 Max comes with a triple rear camera setup led by a 50MP Sony LYT-710 main sensor. The main camera includes optical image stabilization, which should help reduce blur in photos and improve video stability. It is joined by an 8MP ultrawide camera and a dedicated 2-in-1 light sensor.
For selfies and video calls, the phone includes a 32MP front-facing camera. This should be useful for social media users, content creators, and anyone who wants detailed front-camera shots.
One of the biggest highlights of the Motorola Edge 70 Max is its massive 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery. This large battery capacity should make the phone a strong choice for users who want all-day or even multi-day battery life, depending on usage.
Charging is also fast. The device supports 90W wired charging, allowing users to quickly recharge the large battery. It also includes 25W Qi2.2 magnetic wireless charging, adding convenience for those who prefer cable-free charging. However, the phone uses a USB-C 2.0 port rather than a faster USB standard.
The Motorola Edge 70 Max runs Android 16 out of the box. Motorola promises up to three years of major Android OS upgrades and up to five years of security updates. This gives buyers a reasonable level of long-term software support.
Connectivity features include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC. These specifications make the phone ready for fast wireless speeds, modern accessories, and contactless payments.
In terms of design, the Motorola Edge 70 Max features an aluminum frame and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on both the front and back. The device measures 8.29mm thick and weighs 221 grams, which is understandable given its large display and high-capacity battery.
Durability is another key selling point. The smartphone comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. This means it is designed to handle splashes, dust, and more demanding water exposure better than many standard smartphones.
Motorola is offering the Edge 70 Max in three Pantone color options: Ice Melt, Aqua Gray, and Dark Shadow. These finishes give buyers a mix of stylish and understated choices.
Motorola Edge 70 Max price in India starts at INR 54,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The higher-end 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version is priced at INR 59,999. Sales are scheduled to begin on July 20 at 12 PM local time.
With its Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, large 7,100mAh battery, bright 144Hz AMOLED display, durable build, and fast charging support, the Motorola Edge 70 Max is positioned as a serious contender in India’s premium smartphone market. It is likely to appeal to power users, mobile gamers, and buyers looking for a feature-packed Android flagship with strong battery endurance.
