Minisforum Unveils MS-02 Ultra: Tiny Powerhouse with Core Ultra 9 285HX and Up to 256GB RAM

Minisforum’s MS-02 Ultra is a compact powerhouse built to punch well above typical mini PC limits. While the Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX includes a modest 4-core Arc integrated GPU, the real story is expansion: the system provides both PCIe 5.0 x16 and PCIe 4.0 x16 slots, enabling support for two-slot desktop graphics cards. An integrated 8-pin PCIe auxiliary power connector helps feed hungry GPUs, though total system draw is expected to top out at around 350 W due to the built-in Flex PSU.

Memory headroom is equally ambitious. The MS-02 Ultra supports up to 256 GB of RAM, offering a serious foundation for multitasking and demanding workloads. Despite its capabilities, the chassis keeps a compact footprint at 221.5 × 225 × 97 mm—small enough for a desk, yet clearly engineered for more than casual use.

Connectivity is well covered with ample front and rear I/O, including a pair of USB 2.0 ports for legacy peripherals and accessories. The breadth of interfaces and internal expandability position this machine as more of a mini server or highly adaptable workstation rather than a conventional mini PC.

In short, the MS-02 Ultra trades flashy integrated graphics for serious scalability. If you want a compact system that can accept a proper desktop GPU, heap on memory, and still stay tidy on a shelf or rack, this design checks the right boxes.
