Mangmi Air Y and Air Y Pro Announced as New Vertical Android Gaming Handhelds
Mangmi is preparing to expand its handheld gaming lineup with a fresh new direction. After releasing two horizontal handheld devices, the company has now confirmed that its first major product launch for 2026 will be the Mangmi Air Y series, a pair of vertical Android gaming handhelds powered by Qualcomm processors.
The upcoming lineup will include two models: the Mangmi Air Y and the Mangmi Air Y Pro. Both devices mark a shift away from Mangmi’s previous horizontal designs, giving retro gaming fans and portable gaming enthusiasts a more compact, classic handheld form factor.
Mangmi first entered the handheld gaming market in 2025 with the budget-friendly Air X. It later followed up with the Pocket Max, a larger and more premium device aimed at players who wanted a bigger screen and stronger overall experience. Since then, the company has remained relatively quiet, aside from software updates for its existing handhelds. Now, Mangmi appears ready to return with a more distinctive product family.
The Mangmi Air Y series is designed around a vertical layout, similar to traditional retro handheld consoles. This form factor is popular among players who enjoy classic games, emulation, and pocket-friendly gaming devices.
The standard Mangmi Air Y will come in black and features a cross-style D-pad, ABXY face buttons arranged in the Nintendo layout, and a single analog stick positioned below the D-pad. The joystick also includes an RGB light ring, adding a modern gaming touch to the retro-inspired design. A speaker grille is placed below the ABXY buttons.
On the left side of the Air Y, there appears to be an orange button, likely used as the power button. The device also includes a scroll wheel and another black button, though its exact function has not yet been confirmed.
The Mangmi Air Y Pro shares a similar overall design but comes in white. It appears to use a display of similar size, although Mangmi has not yet confirmed whether both models will offer the same screen resolution or panel quality.
The Pro model stands out with burgundy-colored controls and two symmetrical analog sticks, both featuring RGB ring lighting. Unlike the standard Air Y, the Air Y Pro does not appear to have a front-facing speaker grille. It also includes two side buttons and a scroll wheel on the left edge, matching the layout seen on the regular model.
Mangmi has confirmed that both the Air Y and Air Y Pro will run Android and use Qualcomm chipsets. However, the company has not yet revealed which Snapdragon processors will power the devices. This detail will be important, as performance will determine how well the handhelds can handle Android games, cloud gaming, and emulation.
