TrimUI Brick Pro and Brick Hammer Pro U Pre-Orders Open, but Pricing Gets Complicated
TrimUI has officially opened pre-orders for its two new vertical retro gaming handhelds, the TrimUI Brick Pro and the TrimUI Brick Hammer Pro U. Both devices were revealed earlier without confirmed pricing, and now that prices are available, buyers are facing a somewhat confusing situation depending on where they order from and which configuration they choose.
The TrimUI Brick Pro is the more affordable model of the two. It runs on Linux and is positioned as a budget-friendly vertical handheld for retro gaming fans who want a compact device without spending too much. According to TrimUI’s main website, the Brick Pro has a presale price of $99.99 for all three color options: Black, Grey, and White. That price does not include a microSD card.
At the time of writing, a temporary $10 discount brings the price down to $89.99. Buyers who have an additional coupon may be able to reduce the cost even further.
Pricing is slightly different on TrimUI’s separate store page. There, the Brick Pro starts at $89.99 without a microSD card. Adding storage increases the price:
The 64GB microSD version costs $99.99.
The 128GB microSD version costs $114.99.
The 256GB microSD version costs $134.99.
TrimUI also states that pre-order quantities are limited. Orders for the Brick Pro are expected to begin shipping after June 30.
The TrimUI Brick Hammer Pro U is much more expensive. Unlike the Linux-based Brick Pro, the Brick Hammer Pro U runs Android and comes with stronger hardware, making it the more powerful option. However, its price has caused frustration among some early buyers.
On TrimUI’s main website, the Brick Hammer Pro U is listed at $199.99, but it is currently marked as sold out. On TrimUI’s store page, however, the device is available for pre-order at a much higher starting price of $284.99 without a microSD card.
The storage options raise the price further:
The 64GB microSD version is listed at $294.99.
The 128GB microSD version is listed at $324.99.
The 256GB microSD version is listed at $344.99.
TrimUI is currently applying an automatic 15% discount when the Brick Hammer Pro U is added to the cart. With that discount, the final prices become more manageable, although still much higher than originally expected.
After the discount, the base model without a microSD card drops to $242.25. The 64GB version becomes $250.75, the 128GB version falls to $276.25, and the 256GB version costs $293.25.
Pre-orders for the Brick Hammer Pro U are also limited, and shipments are expected to begin after July 30.
The biggest controversy surrounds the sudden price increase for the TrimUI Brick Hammer Pro U. Early expectations suggested the Android handheld could cost around $150. Some buyers reportedly placed pre-orders through third-party sellers at prices as low as $135.99, while others paid around $159.99.
After the price increase, some early buyers were reportedly contacted by sellers and given several options. They could pay the remaining balance and receive accessories worth about $25 as compensation, switch their order to the cheaper TrimUI Brick Pro, or request a full refund.
One retailer explained that the original pre-order pricing was based on early internal estimates before mass production began. Once the Brick Hammer Pro U entered mass production, the final cost turned out to be higher than expected. As a result, TrimUI reportedly raised the price and instructed official sellers to adjust their listings as well.
While the new price may disappoint buyers who were hoping for a sub-$160 Android gaming handheld, the Brick Hammer Pro U still stands out in the vertical handheld market. Its Android operating system, stronger performance, and dual thumbsticks make it one of the more capable options in its category.
One of its closest competitors is the Anbernic RG 477V, another vertical handheld with dual thumbsticks. That device is priced around $249.99 officially, though it can sell for more depending on the retailer.
For budget-conscious retro gaming fans, the TrimUI Brick Pro remains the better-value choice at under $100. It offers a more affordable entry point and should appeal to players who mainly want classic emulation in a compact vertical form factor.
For buyers who want more power, Android support, and a more premium feature set, the TrimUI Brick Hammer Pro U may still be worth considering, but the higher price makes it a much tougher decision than expected.
