Lenovo ThinkBook 14x arrives in North America with a lightweight design and 120Hz display
Lenovo has introduced the ThinkBook 14x in the US and Canada, bringing a slim 14-inch business laptop option for users who want a portable machine with modern features, upgradeable storage, and a high-refresh-rate display.
One of the notable details is its storage setup. Lenovo ships the ThinkBook 14x with a 256 GB SSD installed in an M.2 2242 slot. While that may feel limited for users who store large files, creative projects, or multiple apps, the laptop includes a second SSD slot with support for M.2 2280 drives. That gives buyers a practical upgrade path without needing to replace the original drive right away.
The US model comes with a 1200p IPS display that reaches up to 400 nits of brightness. It also covers 100% of the sRGB color space, making it a solid fit for everyday productivity, web work, streaming, and general content creation. The 120 Hz refresh rate is another welcome addition, offering smoother scrolling and a more responsive feel compared with standard 60 Hz panels.
However, Lenovo is not offering the 2.8K OLED display option on this North American configuration. That OLED panel would have delivered stronger color accuracy, higher brightness, and variable refresh rate support. Even so, the included IPS screen should still appeal to users who prioritize battery efficiency, smooth performance, and dependable image quality for work and study.
The ThinkBook 14x also includes a haptic touchpad, which gives the laptop a more premium feel during daily use. Its chassis measures 312 x 217 x 12.9 to 15.6 mm, making it slim enough for commuters, students, and professionals who need a compact laptop that can easily fit into a backpack or work bag.
Connectivity is a mixed point. The laptop does not include Thunderbolt 4 ports, which may disappoint users who rely on high-speed external storage, docking stations, or advanced display setups. Instead, Lenovo equips the ThinkBook 14x with 10 Gbps USB-C alternatives that support DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. For many users, that should still be enough for charging, connecting external monitors, and using modern accessories.
Pricing currently starts at CAD 1,529 in Canada and $1,104 in the US. With its lightweight build, 120 Hz display, haptic touchpad, and expandable storage, the Lenovo ThinkBook 14x positions itself as a sleek productivity laptop for buyers who want portability without giving up practical upgrade options.
