Lenovo's Legion Go Handheld Now Natively Ships With SteamOS 1

Lenovo’s Legion Go Goes SteamOS-First: Native Support Arrives This June

Lenovo is expanding its handheld gaming lineup with a new Legion Go model that ships with SteamOS right out of the box, aiming to deliver a more streamlined, console-like experience for players who primarily live in the Steam ecosystem.

The original Lenovo Legion Go, launched in September 2025, arrived as a Windows-based handheld built around AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme. Now, Lenovo is keeping that same performance foundation but changing the software approach by going native with SteamOS on this new variant.

For many gamers, SteamOS on a handheld is a big shift in day-to-day usability. Instead of configuring Windows for handheld play, SteamOS is designed around a controller-first interface that makes it easier to jump into games, browse your library, and manage installed titles. It also keeps popular Steam features close at hand, including Family Sharing for access across accounts, the ability to transfer files over a local home network, and Steam Remote Play, which lets you stream and play games installed on your PC remotely.

On the hardware side, Lenovo isn’t downgrading anything for the SteamOS edition. The Legion Go SteamOS model continues to feature the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme (an 8-core chip), with configurations offering up to 32GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen4 SSD storage. Power is handled by a 74WHr battery, and charging comes through a 65W USB-C adapter.

The display is another major highlight: an 8.8-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) OLED panel in a 16:10 aspect ratio, rated for 500 nits of brightness and a 144Hz refresh rate. It also supports DCI-P3 color coverage and 10-point incell touch input, positioning it as a premium screen for handheld gaming.

Pricing and availability details are also in place. The Legion Go powered by SteamOS (8.8”, 2) is expected to start at $1,199 in the US, with availability projected for June 2026.
