Lenovo Legion Y700 Infinite is shaping up to be one of the most exciting compact gaming tablets of 2026
Lenovo is preparing to expand its Legion gaming tablet lineup with the upcoming Legion Y700 Infinite, a compact Android gaming tablet designed for players who want flagship performance in a smaller, more portable form factor. After previously teasing its design and confirming 5G support, Lenovo has now revealed one of the most important details: the chipset.
The Lenovo Legion Y700 Infinite will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but not the standard version. According to Lenovo, the tablet will use a higher-clocked variant of the chip, with a maximum CPU speed of 4.74GHz. That puts it in line with the more powerful “Leading Version” of the chipset, giving the device a serious performance advantage on paper.
This could make the Legion Y700 Infinite one of the fastest compact gaming tablets in its class, especially if Lenovo pairs the upgraded processor with strong thermal management. High clock speeds can deliver smoother gameplay, faster app loading, and better multitasking, but they also generate more heat. For a gaming-focused device, cooling will be key. If Lenovo manages temperatures well, the Y700 Infinite could offer a noticeable performance boost over rivals using the standard version of the same chip.
Lenovo has also confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Leading Version will be paired with LPDDR5T RAM and UFS 4.1 “Pro” storage. Both are performance-focused components, designed to improve speed across gaming, file transfers, app launching, and system responsiveness. Together, they suggest that Lenovo is positioning the Legion Y700 Infinite as a premium compact gaming tablet rather than a simple refresh.
The tablet is expected to feature an OLED display, which would be a major upgrade for gamers who care about contrast, colors, and response times. OLED panels typically deliver deeper blacks, more vivid visuals, and a more immersive gaming experience compared to traditional LCD screens. For a handheld-style gaming tablet, that could make a big difference, especially in fast-paced titles and visually rich mobile games.
Earlier images shared by Lenovo showed a clean design with a camera cutout along the top edge. The rear design also appears to include an RGB ring light around the camera module, giving the tablet a more distinctive gaming identity. This matches the Legion brand’s focus on performance hardware with aggressive, gaming-inspired styling.
The Legion Y700 Infinite is expected to follow the regular Legion Y700 Gen 5, but with a more feature-rich approach that includes cellular connectivity. The addition of 5G could make it especially appealing to users who want to play online games, stream content, or stay connected without relying on Wi-Fi.
Lenovo plans to launch the Legion Y700 Infinite in China in August 2026. A wider international release has not been fully detailed yet, but the tablet is expected to reach global markets after its Chinese debut.
With a compact OLED display, 5G connectivity, high-speed LPDDR5T memory, UFS 4.1 Pro storage, and an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the Lenovo Legion Y700 Infinite could become a strong contender in the premium Android gaming tablet market. If Lenovo delivers effective cooling and competitive pricing, this may be one of the most powerful small gaming tablets to watch in 2026.
