Lenovo Legion Y700 Infinite Could Be a Compact Gaming Tablet Built for Serious Performance
Lenovo is preparing to launch its next Android gaming tablet in August, and the Legion Y700 Infinite is already looking like one of the most powerful compact tablets in its class. Designed as a more advanced version of the Legion Y700, also known globally as the Legion Tab Gen 5, this upcoming device focuses heavily on performance, heat control, and handheld comfort during long gaming sessions.
The biggest highlight is its cooling system. Lenovo has confirmed that the Legion Y700 Infinite will feature a large 15,000mm² vapor chamber, built to spread heat more efficiently across the tablet’s body. This is especially important because the device is expected to use an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a high-performance chipset designed to push demanding Android games at higher frame rates.
Powerful chips can generate a lot of heat, especially in a compact tablet, but Lenovo appears to be tackling that problem with a carefully planned internal layout. The company says the processor has been positioned near the center of the chassis rather than close to the edges, where users typically hold the device. This centrally mounted cooling design should help keep the grip areas cooler, making the tablet more comfortable to use during extended gameplay.
According to Lenovo’s own testing, the grip area of the Legion Y700 Infinite can stay around 4°C cooler compared to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered phone using an active cooling system. That could be a major advantage for mobile gamers who want sustained performance without the discomfort of hot edges or thermal throttling.
The Legion Y700 Infinite is also expected to bring major hardware upgrades beyond cooling. Lenovo has already teased that the tablet will combine the overclocked 4.74GHz Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with LPDDR5T memory and UFS 4.1 Pro storage. This combination should deliver fast app loading, smoother multitasking, and improved gaming responsiveness.
Another key upgrade could be the display. The tablet is rumored to feature an 8-inch high refresh rate OLED screen, which would be a notable step up from the 8.8-inch IPS LCD used in the standard Legion Y700 or Legion Tab Gen 5. An OLED panel would likely offer deeper blacks, stronger contrast, and more vibrant colors, making it especially appealing for gaming, streaming, and media consumption.
Higher-end configurations may include up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, giving the Legion Y700 Infinite enough headroom for large games, heavy multitasking, and long-term use. The tablet is also expected to include a 50MP rear camera with an RGB ring light, adding a distinctive gaming-inspired design touch.
Connectivity could be another major selling point. Reports suggest the Legion Y700 Infinite may support 5G and dual-SIM functionality, making it more versatile for users who want fast mobile data while gaming, streaming, or working on the go.
