Lenovo Teases Cellular Power for Its Upcoming OLED Gaming Tablet

Lenovo Legion Y700 Infinite Set to Bring OLED Display and 5G to Compact Gaming Tablets

Lenovo is preparing to expand its Legion gaming tablet lineup with a new compact model called the Legion Y700 Infinite. Expected to launch in China in August 2026, the upcoming device is shaping up to be a smaller, more portable gaming tablet with a major display upgrade and full cellular support.

Earlier this year, Lenovo introduced the Legion Y700 Gen 5 in China as a powerful small-sized flagship tablet, but that model did not include cellular connectivity. The new Legion Y700 Infinite appears to address that gap by adding 5G support, making it more practical for gamers who want fast online access without relying on Wi-Fi.

One of the biggest expected upgrades is the display. The Legion Y700 Infinite is tipped to feature an OLED panel, replacing the IPS screen used on the earlier Y700 Gen 5. For gaming, this could be a noticeable improvement. OLED displays typically offer deeper blacks, stronger contrast, faster response times, and more vibrant colors, all of which can make mobile games feel more immersive.

Lenovo has now revealed more details about the tablet’s cellular capabilities. The Legion Y700 Infinite will support dual-SIM standby, with one physical SIM slot and one eSIM option. This setup should give users more flexibility, especially those who travel often or want to separate gaming data from their primary mobile plan.

The tablet will also support the N79 5G band, a high-speed mid-band frequency known for strong data performance and low latency. For cloud gaming, online multiplayer, streaming, and large game downloads, low-latency 5G connectivity could be one of the device’s most important features.

Lenovo is also promoting a “multi-antenna distributed design” for the upcoming gaming tablet. According to the company, multiple antennas are placed around the body of the device to help maintain strong signal reception no matter how the tablet is held. This could be especially useful during gaming sessions, where users often grip the tablet in landscape mode for long periods.

Another design detail appears to have been revealed through Lenovo’s promotional images. The front of the tablet seems to show a punch-hole cutout in the display for the camera. This is different from the regular Y700 2026 model, which did not feature a cutout on the screen. While some users may see this as a drawback, the design may allow Lenovo to reduce the bezel size and create a more modern front appearance.

For now, Lenovo has not confirmed the full specifications of the Legion Y700 Infinite. Key details such as the processor, battery capacity, charging speed, refresh rate, storage options, cooling system, and global availability remain unknown. However, with the China launch expected in August 2026, more information should arrive soon.

If Lenovo combines a compact form factor, OLED display, 5G connectivity, strong antenna design, and flagship-level performance, the Legion Y700 Infinite could become one of the most interesting small gaming tablets of 2026. It may appeal to mobile gamers who want a powerful Android gaming tablet that is easy to carry but still built for serious gameplay.
