Lenovo has officially unveiled the Legion Tab Gen 5 for the global market at MWC 2026, positioning it as a serious Android gaming tablet for players who care about sustained performance. The company says the tablet will go on sale globally in April, while the same device is expected to arrive in China soon under the name Lenovo Y700 Gen 5.
Ahead of the China launch, Lenovo shared new performance figures meant to show how well the Legion Tab Gen 5 holds up during long gaming sessions powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform. Rather than focusing on short bursts of peak frame rates, the company highlighted two 4-hour continuous gaming tests, aiming to demonstrate stability over time—one of the biggest concerns for mobile gamers who experience throttling on thin devices.
In the first test, Lenovo describes the title as a “popular 3D turn-based mobile game” running at the “Very High” graphics preset. After four hours of continuous play, Lenovo claims the Legion Tab Gen 5 maintained an average of 60 FPS. Just as important for comfort, the company says the tablet’s grip area reached around 40°C during this extended session.
The second test covered what Lenovo calls a “famous battle royale” game, again using a four-hour continuous test and the “Very High” visual settings. Here, Lenovo reports a notably high 164 FPS average over the full run, with the grip temperature sitting at about 38.5°C.
Thermals matter in this category because many gaming-focused devices lean on aggressive cooling solutions to keep performance steady. Lenovo’s numbers stand out because the Legion Tab Gen 5 doesn’t include an active cooling fan like some competing gaming tablets. If these temperatures and frame-rate averages reflect real-world results, the Legion Tab Gen 5 could be a compelling option for anyone looking for a high-performance Android gaming tablet that can handle long sessions without becoming uncomfortable to hold.
That said, these benchmark figures come directly from Lenovo, so it’s smart to treat them as manufacturer-provided claims until independent testing confirms how the Legion Tab Gen 5 performs across more games, settings, and ambient conditions. Still, the message is clear: Lenovo is pitching the Legion Tab Gen 5 as a tablet built for sustained high frame rates, very high graphics settings, and controlled heat during extended gaming.
