Leak teases Xiaomi 17 lineup with larger batteries than last year’s flagships

Xiaomi’s next flagship family is edging closer, and fresh leaks are painting a clear picture of one standout upgrade: bigger batteries across the board. While the company has already teased the redesigned backs of the Pro models, it hasn’t confirmed core hardware. That hasn’t stopped the rumor mill—especially a new tip from Weibo leaker Panda Is Very Bald—suggesting major gains in battery capacity for the Xiaomi 17 lineup powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

According to the leak, the standard Xiaomi 17 could ship with a massive 7,000 mAh battery. That’s a substantial leap from the 5,400 mAh cell in the Chinese Xiaomi 15 and positions the base model as a battery-life powerhouse.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro is said to carry a 6,300 mAh battery. While that’s smaller than the standard model, it’s still an upgrade over the Xiaomi 15 Pro’s 6,100 mAh pack.

There’s more: the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max reportedly takes things even further with a 7,500 mAh cell—the largest of the bunch. And although not yet officially announced, the leaker also shared an image hinting at a Xiaomi 17 Ultra equipped with a 6,800 mAh battery. For comparison, the Chinese Xiaomi 15 Ultra features a 6,000 mAh unit, making this another notable bump.

Charging speeds are expected to keep pace with the bigger capacities. The leak claims all three core models will support 100 W fast charging, a step up from the 90 W rating used on the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro. If accurate, that combo of high-capacity batteries and faster charging should translate to longer usage times with quick top-ups.

As always, real-world endurance will depend on overall hardware efficiency. If the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 maintains or improves on the power management of the current Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Xiaomi 17 series could deliver some of the best battery life in a flagship lineup this year.

None of these details are official yet, but the trend is clear: Xiaomi appears to be prioritizing battery capacity and charging performance across its next-gen devices. Expect more concrete specs and launch information soon as the company moves closer to unveiling the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the still-unannounced 17 Ultra.
