KUOE Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs Debuts With New Miyota Automatic Movement and 80-Hour Power Reserve
Japanese watchmaker KUOE has introduced the Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs, a vintage-inspired automatic watch assembled in Kyoto and powered by Citizen Miyota’s new Calibre 9085 movement. The model stands out for its extended power reserve, classic styling, and limited initial availability, with pre-orders scheduled to open on October 30, 2026.
The Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs brings a meaningful upgrade to KUOE’s traditional dress-watch collection. At the heart of the watch is Miyota’s Calibre 9085, an automatic movement offering approximately 80 hours of power reserve. That is a major step up from the well-known Miyota Calibre 9015, which typically delivers around 42 hours.
For everyday wearers and collectors, the longer power reserve makes the watch more practical. Owners can leave it off the wrist for a weekend and return to it without immediately needing to reset the time, depending on how fully the movement was wound.
KUOE says it is the only Japanese watch brand to receive early access to this new Miyota movement. The Calibre 9085 is currently being supplied to only a select group of watchmakers worldwide, giving this release added appeal for enthusiasts interested in Japanese mechanical watches.
A Classic Dial With Vintage Character
The Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs continues KUOE’s familiar vintage design language while introducing a fresh dial layout. The watch features applied Roman numeral hour markers, plume-shaped hands, and a heat-blued steel seconds hand. The dial uses a two-layer construction, giving it extra depth and a more refined appearance.
The movement is visible through an exhibition case back, allowing wearers to view the decorative finishing. KUOE has fitted the Calibre 9085 with Geneva stripes and heat-blued screws, details that add visual interest to the mechanical movement inside.
The overall design blends old-world styling with modern Japanese watchmaking. It is a watch aimed at buyers who appreciate traditional proportions, mechanical engineering, and understated elegance.
Two Case Sizes and Three Dial Colors
KUOE is offering the Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs in two case sizes: 35 mm and 39 mm. This gives buyers the choice between a more traditional compact size and a slightly larger modern fit.
The watch will be available with three dial colors:
Ivory
Blue
Green
Each version comes paired with an Italian-made leather strap. One of the standout configurations features a turquoise-blue dial, a polished stainless-steel case, and a brown leather strap, creating a sophisticated yet eye-catching look.
The combination of dial colors, case sizes, and classic details gives the Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs broad appeal, whether worn as a daily dress watch or added to a mechanical watch collection.
Assembled in Kyoto
KUOE emphasizes that its watches are individually assembled by watchmakers in Kyoto. This local assembly approach is part of the brand’s identity, especially for buyers looking for a Japanese automatic watch with a strong sense of place and craftsmanship.
The Royal Smith line has long focused on vintage-inspired design, and this new model builds on that foundation with a more advanced movement and upgraded visual details.
Price and Availability
Pre-orders for the KUOE Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs will open online on October 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Japan Standard Time. The first allocation will include 1,000 watches, with shipping expected to begin in February 2027.
In Japan, pricing starts at ¥131,100 for the blue and green dial versions. The ivory dial model is priced from ¥131,400. Buyers outside Japan should check regional pricing, import duties, and applicable taxes before ordering.
It is important to note that the 1,000-piece figure refers to the initial allocation, not a confirmed total production limit. KUOE has not stated that only 1,000 examples will ever be produced.
With its 80-hour automatic movement, elegant dial design, Kyoto assembly, and classic proportions, the KUOE Royal Smith 90-006 80 hrs is shaping up to be one of the more interesting Japanese mechanical watch releases for collectors and enthusiasts looking for vintage charm with modern performance.
