iReader Tango 2s Teased With Compact 5.84-Inch Carta 1300 Display and Smartphone-Style Design
iReader is preparing to expand its Tango e-reader lineup with a new compact model called the iReader Tango 2s. The company has shared an early look at the device, confirming that it will continue the series’ smartphone-inspired design while offering a smaller screen than its predecessor.
The Tango series first arrived in May 2025 with a design aimed at readers who want an e-reader that feels more like a phone than a traditional tablet-sized device. iReader followed it with the Tango 2 in October 2025, and now the upcoming Tango 2s is set to become the third model in the lineup.
According to the teaser details, the iReader Tango 2s will feature a 5.84-inch Carta 1300 monochrome display with a sharp 300 PPI resolution. That makes it more compact than the Tango 2, which came with a 6.13-inch screen. iReader claims this is the first 5.84-inch Carta 1300 panel to offer 300 PPI, which could make the device especially appealing to users who prioritize crisp text in a smaller, pocket-friendly form factor.
The shared image shows that the Tango 2s keeps the familiar phone-like shape of earlier Tango models. It appears to have relatively thick bezels around the screen, along with what looks like a physical button positioned below the display. The device is shown in a black finish and seems to feature a textured rear panel, likely designed to improve grip during one-handed reading.
While iReader has confirmed the display size and screen technology, many key specifications are still under wraps. Details such as processor, memory, storage capacity, operating system features, lighting options, and charging speed have not yet been announced.
Battery capacity is also unknown. Since the Tango 2s has a smaller display than the Tango 2, it may come with a smaller battery as well. For comparison, the Tango 2 includes a 3,900mAh battery. However, e-readers with E Ink screens are typically known for long battery life, so the Tango 2s could still offer extended reading time even with a more compact battery.
The Tango 2s is not expected to include a camera, as previous Tango models did not feature one. This suggests iReader is continuing to focus on a distraction-free reading experience rather than turning the device into a hybrid phone-like gadget.
The compact e-reader category has gained attention from users who want a lightweight device for reading ebooks, web articles, manga, or documents without the eye strain often associated with regular smartphone displays. With its 5.84-inch Carta 1300 screen and 300 PPI density, the iReader Tango 2s could become an attractive option for readers looking for a portable E Ink device that can easily slip into a pocket or small bag.
