iReader Launches Neo 3 Ultra: Faster Performance and Longer Battery Life in a Sleek New E-Reader

iReader is expanding its Neo 3 lineup again, and this time it’s aiming for readers who want faster performance and longer battery life in a compact e-reader. About six months after introducing the Neo 3 Pro, the company has now unveiled the iReader Neo 3 Ultra, a new top-tier model that joins the Neo 3 Pro and the standard Neo 3 released in 2025.

At its core, the Neo 3 Ultra is built around the same 6-inch Carta 1300 E Ink display found on the Neo 3 Pro. The big design difference is how that screen is integrated. While the Pro model uses a flush front panel covered with nano-etched glass, the Neo 3 Ultra goes with a sunken display design. For many e-reader fans, that recessed look can feel more traditional and may reduce reflections depending on lighting and viewing angle.

Even with the different screen build, iReader is keeping several of its reading-focused enhancements here. The Neo 3 Ultra includes i-Clean 2.0 to help reduce ghosting (the faint remnants of previous pages). It also adds a “super refresh” technology meant to improve screen refresh behavior for a smoother reading experience. On the lighting side, ComfortLight Pro+ brings 30 levels of brightness along with color temperature control, helping you fine-tune the screen for daytime reading or colder/warmer night settings.

Where the Neo 3 Ultra clearly separates itself is speed. It runs on an unspecified octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. That’s a notable step up from the Neo 3 Pro, which comes with a quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM, and the same 64GB storage capacity. In real-world terms, the extra RAM and processing headroom should translate to snappier menus, smoother multitasking, and faster handling of larger libraries or heavier documents.

Battery life is also upgraded. The Neo 3 Ultra packs a 2,000mAh battery, slightly larger than the 1,800mAh battery in the Neo 3 Pro. iReader claims up to 53 hours of reading time or as much as 18 days of standby on a single charge, which will appeal to anyone who prefers charging less often between trips or long reading stretches.

Another practical addition is a set of pogo pins that let the Neo 3 Ultra connect to a compatible case featuring physical page-turn buttons. For readers who prefer tactile controls—especially when reading one-handed—this accessory support can be a major quality-of-life feature.

In terms of portability, the device stays lightweight and slim at about 150 grams and 7.5mm thick. It’s offered in a single color option: a distinctive blue finish paired with an orange power button for contrast.

Pricing and availability are currently focused on China, where the iReader Neo 3 Ultra is listed at CNY 1,499 (around $218 / €189).
