iReader is preparing to introduce a new E Ink tablet aimed at readers, students, and digital note-takers who want something more portable than many of today’s large e-paper devices. The upcoming model, called the iReader Air 3 Pro, is expected to launch in China soon and will offer stylus support, a compact display, and expandable storage.
The iReader Air 3 Pro follows the company’s earlier Neo 3 Ultra e-reader, but it is designed for a different category of users. While the Neo 3 Ultra features a smaller 6-inch screen for reading, the Air 3 Pro moves into note-taking tablet territory with an 8.2-inch E Ink display. That size could be one of its biggest selling points, especially for people who want a device that is easier to carry than larger 10-inch and 11-inch writing tablets.
The tablet uses an 8.2-inch Carta 1300 black-and-white E Ink screen. This newer display technology is designed to deliver a paper-like reading and writing experience, making it suitable for long reading sessions, handwritten notes, document review, and distraction-free work. Its smaller form factor may appeal to users who find larger E Ink tablets too bulky for everyday use.
One notable detail is that the iReader Air 3 Pro does not appear to include a front light. That means users will need an external light source when reading or writing in dark environments. While this may be a drawback for some, it also keeps the device focused on a more traditional paper-like experience.
Stylus support is one of the key features of the iReader Air 3 Pro.
