The bezels of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, already notable for their slim dimensions of just 1.55mm, are set to become even more impressive. According to various rumors, the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature significant advancements in this area. The latest comparisons offer a glimpse into just how thin the new bezels might be.
The bezels of the iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to measure only 1.15mm, potentially making them the thinnest ever on an iPhone. Additionally, it’s expected that the iPhone 16 Pro will have bezels measuring around 1.2mm. This would result in the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s bezels being 40 percent thinner than those on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
These advancements are said to be possible due to a technology referred to as ‘Border Reduction Structure.’ In previous discussions, Apple was expected to use ‘low-injection pressure over-molding’ (LIPO) technology to boost the screen-to-body ratio, but it seems the strategy has shifted for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
An illustration has been provided by Apple Hub that highlights the difference between the bezels of the current and upcoming flagships. The visual comparison, even from a distance, showcases the noticeable reduction in bezel size.
There’s anticipation of a real-world side-by-side comparison once the iPhone 16 series is officially revealed at Apple’s ‘It’s Glowtime’ event on September 9. Historically, noticeable bezel differences could only be observed under close scrutiny, as seen when comparing the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the iPhone 14 Pro.
This new engineering feat signifies a continual effort by Apple to push the boundaries of smartphone design and technology.
