Huawei is gearing up to release its next-generation flagship smartphone, rumored to feature a cutting-edge main camera. This new camera, believed to be supplied by the same company serving Xiaomi’s high-end series through 2026, promises advanced autofocus and improved low-light performance.
Known leaker Digital Chat Station has hinted at the launch of the Mate 80 series, which might include an ‘Ultimate Design’ flagship model with exciting camera technology. The camera sensor, referred to as “590” or possibly SC590XS, is expected to be a 50MP 1/1.28-inch sensor, comparable to the 1-inch sensor in the Pura 80 Ultra.
While it may not boast the largest size, it’s built on an advanced 22-nanometer process with 1.2 micron pixels, supporting 4K/120fps video recording. The sensor features quad phase-detect autofocus, similar to what top brands like Samsung use, and offers high dynamic range (HDR). Enhanced light sensitivity might be on the cards, especially if paired with a large-aperture lens as rumored.
This 50MP main rear camera is anticipated to be part of successors to the Mate 70 Pro and Pro+, as well as the 70 RS, which share the same rear camera setup. The camera is reportedly produced by Smartsens, an emerging player in imaging technology, also expected to provide sensors for the Xiaomi 16 series.
