Signify is getting ready to make Philips Hue lighting smarter and more immersive with a new feature called Philips Hue SpatialAware. The idea is simple but powerful: your Hue lights can remember where they’re physically placed in a room, and that location data can then be used to create more intelligent lighting effects.
Once SpatialAware detects the position of each lamp, that placement is saved in the system. After that, any scene that supports SpatialAware can take advantage of the exact layout of your Hue setup. Signify says that when the feature launches in the spring, roughly half of the scenes included in the Philips Hue app will be compatible. For homeowners who like using preset scenes for movie nights, gaming, relaxing, or entertaining, that could translate into lighting that feels more “aware” of the room rather than a one-size-fits-all effect.
Alongside SpatialAware, Signify also announced several updates designed to make the Hue ecosystem easier to manage and more connected across platforms.
One of the most practical changes is improved migration for advanced Hue setups. Users will be able to move multiple Philips Hue Bridges over to a Hue Bridge Pro. Notably, this migration can be done even after the initial setup, as long as the Hue Bridge Pro has enough capacity. It’s a helpful upgrade for anyone who has expanded their smart lighting over time and ended up running more than one Bridge to handle a growing number of lights and accessories.
On the home security side, Philips Hue Secure is also getting a major compatibility boost. Signify confirmed that Apple Home support is coming in the first quarter of 2026, meaning by the end of March. This update is expected to allow Hue Secure cameras, the video doorbell, and contact sensors to integrate directly into Apple’s smart home app, which should be welcome news for Apple-focused households looking to manage lighting and security devices in one place.
Finally, another usability improvement is coming in the same timeframe: automations will be displayed directly within their respective rooms. Instead of digging through menus to find which routines apply where, the Hue app will make it easier to see and manage automations based on the room they control—an update that should streamline everyday smart home tweaks and troubleshooting.
With SpatialAware positioning, Bridge Pro migration improvements, Apple Home integration for Hue Secure, and clearer in-room automation visibility, these upcoming Philips Hue updates point to a smarter, more unified Hue experience in 2026.
