HMD Skyline Crowned as the Most Easily Repairable Smartphone of 2024

The HMD Skyline has wrapped up 2024 on a high note, earning the prestigious title of “Most Repairable Smartphone of the Year” on the widely followed teardown vlog, JerryRigEverything. This accolade stands out amongst tech enthusiasts, further boosting the Skyline’s reputation in the smartphone industry.

While the Asus ROG Phone 8 and Huawei Mate XT also made the cut at this virtual award platform, their mentions were less about accolades and more about shortcomings in durability. The ROG Phone 8 buckled under pressure during its stress test, earning it the undesirable title of “Least Durable Smartphone of 2024.” Meanwhile, the Huawei Mate XT, despite its innovative tri-folding design, shared the same unfortunate distinction due to similar durability concerns.

The Skyline takes the spotlight for its simplicity when it comes to maintenance and repairs. A major advantage for tech-savvy users or those prone to mishaps, the phone requires nothing more than a single screwdriver to open up, allowing for easy fixes and keeping the warranty intact. In contrast, the Pixel 9 series, despite having spare parts readily available through a partnership with iFixit, demands more effort, time, and even a heat gun for repairs.

In other awards, the RedMagic 10 Pro was crowned “Most Innovative Smartphone of 2024,” celebrated for its state-of-the-art RGB cooling system and seamless display. Leaving no category unawarded, the prize for “Most Durable Smartphone” was claimed by the Ulefone Armor 24, known for its robust build and impressive 22,000mAh battery, making it a powerhouse smartphone equivalent to a brick in terms of sturdiness.

These accolades highlight a range of offerings in the smartphone arena, each excelling in its own right. From repair-friendly designs to groundbreaking innovations, 2024 has been a remarkable year for smartphone technology.
