HMD Fusion 2 Reportedly Still in Development, New Rugged XR22 Also Expected
HMD may not be done with its modular smartphone idea after all. After earlier claims suggested that the company had canceled the HMD Fusion 2, fresh information now points in the opposite direction. According to a new leak, the next-generation HMD Fusion is still actively in development, meaning the modular phone lineup could continue.
The latest update comes from the same tipster who previously shared the cancellation rumor, but this time the information is said to come from an insider familiar with HMD’s plans. The key takeaway is simple: HMD Fusion 2 has not been scrapped.
However, the phone may still be in an early stage. The leak claims that HMD has not finalized the Fusion 2 design yet. That means any renders, images, or detailed specifications currently circulating online should be treated with caution, as they may not reflect the final product.
The original HMD Fusion stood out because of its modular approach, allowing users to expand the phone’s functionality with attachable accessories. If HMD continues with the Fusion 2, it could give the company another chance to refine the concept and attract users looking for a more customizable smartphone experience.
The same leak also addressed other rumored HMD devices. According to the information shared, there is no HMD Skyline 2 GT in development. The upcoming HMD Skyline 2 is also not expected to feature a circular redesigned camera island, despite earlier speculation.
