Hideo Kojima’s Studio Turns 10, Teases ‘Future Projects’ Showcase Ahead of TGS 2025

Hideo Kojima is gearing up to celebrate a decade of Kojima Productions with a one-off event titled “Beyond the Strand,” taking place Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Roppongi Hills TOHO Cinema in Tokyo. Running from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM JST, the showcase will feature Kojima on stage, special guest appearances, and fresh insight into what’s next for the studio. Tickets will be distributed via lottery soon, and fans outside Japan will be able to watch via a live stream.

The anniversary marks 10 years since Kojima founded his independent studio in December 2015 following his departure from Konami. Partnering with Sony Interactive Entertainment, Kojima Productions debuted Death Stranding in 2019, and returned this year with Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, released on June 26, 2025. With the celebration set just two days before Tokyo Game Show 2025, expectations are high for teases and updates across multiple projects.

One likely headliner is OD, Kojima’s ambitious horror project in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios, which remains in active development. Another is Physint, a stealth action espionage title widely described as a spiritual successor to the style of gameplay Kojima helped pioneer. Physint is reportedly still in the conceptual phase, with Kojima saying he’s currently developing it solo. He has suggested it could require five to six years to complete, and many are already speculating it could end up a PS6 exclusive.

Kojima has been candid about how recent years have reshaped his perspective. After turning 60 and facing serious illness during the pandemic, he reevaluated his priorities and even prepared a will containing game concepts for his team to carry forward if needed. Reflecting on that period, he said, “Turning 60 was less of a turning point in my life than my experiences during the pandemic. I fell seriously ill at that time, and also had an eye operation. Until then, I didn’t think I was old, you know? I just didn’t feel my age, and I assumed I would be able to create for as long as I live.” He continued, “But then I became sick, and I couldn’t create anything. And I saw lots of people around me passing away at the time. I was confronted with death. Of course, I recovered, but now I was thinking, ‘Wait, how many years do I have left to make a game or film?’ Perhaps I have ten years?”

Kojima Productions will also appear at Tokyo Game Show 2025 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The studio has confirmed plans for a Death Stranding 5th Anniversary Exhibition and a pop-up, making this a standout week for fans of Kojima’s work.

Mark your calendar if you’re eager for world-building reveals, behind-the-scenes insights, and potential surprises around OD, Physint, and the future of Death Stranding. With a milestone celebration, major stage presence, and a global livestream, Beyond the Strand is shaping up to be one of the most-watched gaming events of the year.
