Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms Announced for PC and Consoles, Launching in 2027
Team17 and Navegante Entertainment have officially announced Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms, the next chapter in the hand-drawn metroidvania series that began with Greak: Memories of Azur in 2021.
The sequel is currently in development for Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. While an exact launch date has not been confirmed, Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms is planned for release sometime in 2027.
Greak 2 continues the emotional journey of Greak and Adara after their escape from their homeland. This time, the siblings arrive in Synoraz, a mysterious and unexplored land filled with danger, magic, and secrets. Their mission quickly becomes far more complicated when a ruthless Ilikun sorcerer separates them into parallel dimensions, forcing them to work together across different realities if they hope to reunite and return to the Courines.
The game is being described as a cooperative hand-drawn metroidvania adventure that can be played solo, in local co-op, or online. Players will be able to switch between Greak and Adara when playing alone, while co-op allows two players to coordinate their abilities directly. This makes teamwork a central part of the experience, whether you are exploring alone or sharing the adventure with another player.
One of the biggest new ideas in Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms is its parallel dimension system. Greak and Adara are separated into different versions of the same world, meaning each sibling will encounter unique paths, enemies, objects, and challenges. To progress, players must understand how both realities connect and use each character’s strengths to solve puzzles, unlock new routes, and overcome obstacles.
The sequel also introduces new synergetic abilities, expanding the way Greak and Adara interact with the world and each other. These abilities will be essential for exploring Synoraz, discovering hidden areas, and surviving encounters with strange magic-infused creatures made of straw. Like the first game, exploration, puzzle-solving, and character coordination appear to be at the heart of the experience.
Synoraz is also home to the Storm Eagles, an ancient and legendary species now facing extinction. During their journey, Greak and Adara must earn the trust of Jerido, protect the last Storm Egg, and help preserve the future of these mythical beings before they disappear forever. This storyline adds a larger emotional and mythological layer to the adventure, giving the siblings another urgent reason to confront the Ilikun threat.
Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms is shaping up to be a more ambitious follow-up, building on the original game’s hand-drawn art style, atmospheric world design, and character-swapping mechanics. With support for solo play, local co-op, and online co-op, the sequel is aiming to offer a flexible metroidvania experience for both returning fans and newcomers.
Players can expect interconnected worlds, cooperative puzzles, dimension-based exploration, magical enemies, and a heartfelt story centered on family, trust, and survival. For fans of hand-drawn platform adventures and story-driven metroidvania games, Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms could be one to watch as it heads toward its 2027 release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5.
