Cygames and Arc System Works have confirmed that Granblue Fantasy: Versus will soon scale back its online multiplayer support as the team shifts more attention to its newer fighting game, Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising.
Starting April 20, several key online features in Granblue Fantasy: Versus will be retired. Players will no longer have access to ranked matches, the online lobby, or the ability to access serial codes. While this change marks the end of the game’s full online experience, the title won’t be completely offline—some online functionality will continue, but in a more limited form.
Even after the April 20 cutoff, players will still be able to use a range of modes and features, including Arcade Mode, Versus Mode, Training Mode, Mission Training, and Room Matches. Other options will remain accessible as well, such as RPG mode for solo play, RPG mode with online backup request support, plus the Gallery and Glossary.
Originally released in 2020, Granblue Fantasy: Versus is available on PC via Steam and on PlayStation 4. Its successor, Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising, launched in November 2023 and is available worldwide on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
For fans still playing the original, the key date to remember is April 20, when the game’s online ranked competition and lobby-style matchmaking will be discontinued, while other modes continue to be playable with limited online support.
