Govee has expanded its lighting lineup with a new high-output smart bulb designed for brighter rooms and more flexible color control. The Govee Smart Bulb A21 is now available in North America and Europe, sold under region-specific names: in the US it’s the Govee E26 Smart Light Bulb 1600lm, while the EU version is called the Govee Smart Bulb E27 A21 1600lm.
Brightness is the big headline here. As the name suggests, these bulbs can reach up to 1,600 lumens, making them a strong option for spaces where standard smart bulbs can feel a little dim—think living rooms, kitchens, home offices, and open-plan areas. Govee also emphasizes color quality, noting a Color Rendering Index (CRI) above 90. That higher CRI is intended to help colors look more natural and true-to-life, supported by the company’s LuminBlend+ technology.
Beyond brightness, the bulbs are built for customization. You can choose from more than 16 million colors, and the adjustable white range stretches from a very warm 1,000K to a crisp 10,000K. That wide span makes it easier to switch between cozy evening lighting, neutral task lighting, and cooler tones that suit focus-heavy work sessions.
Control is handled through the Govee Home app, with a note for buyers: app version 1.00.24 is required to unlock all features. Inside the app, you can manage multiple bulbs at once, fine-tune settings, and pick from more than 60 preset scene modes. Some of these scenes can also sync to music, which is ideal for parties, gaming setups, or mood lighting that reacts to sound.
For hands-free use, the bulbs support voice control through Amazon Alexa. They also include Matter support, helping them fit into broader smart home ecosystems and making it easier to integrate with other compatible devices.
Pricing varies by region and pack size. In the US, the Govee E26 Smart Light Bulb 1600lm is sold in 2-packs for $49.99 and 4-packs for $89.99, with the 2-pack currently discounted to $39.99 at Amazon. In the EU, the official online store lists a 1-pack for €29.99 and a 2-pack for €49.99.
