The global landscape for electric vehicle charging stations is set to experience notable growth by 2025, with China, the European Union, and the United States spearheading this expansion. By then, the total number of public chargers in these regions is expected to climb to 5.81 million units, reflecting a significant increase from previous years.
Recent statistics reveal that in 2024, over 5.34 million public chargers were already operational across more than 30 countries. Interestingly, a staggering 90% of these installations were concentrated in the top eight countries, with China, South Korea, and the US leading the charge.
Between 2023 and 2024, the global count of public chargers rose by 1.298 million, showcasing the accelerated adoption of electric vehicles and the need for robust charging networks.
While both China and the EU are set to continue their aggressive expansion of charging infrastructure, the United States might face some hurdles. The policy directions under President Donald Trump have posed challenges to the growth of local charging facilities, potentially slowing down progress in this area.
