Global Outage Disrupts Samsung TV Services, Streaming Apps Go Offline

Samsung TV users across the globe faced a significant service disruption on July 31, leaving many unable to access popular streaming apps such as Netflix, YouTube, and Peacock. This widespread outage, affecting regions including the United States and India, peaked between 3:30 PM and 8:30 PM PDT, with over 2,500 incidents reported during this period.

The problem appeared to arise from a backend or cloud infrastructure failure. Users, initially believing their devices were at fault, shared screenshots of error messages and factory reset prompts. Social media platforms, including Reddit and Twitter, were flooded with users discussing the outage, with several performing unnecessary factory resets.

Interestingly, while most streaming apps were down, Netflix reportedly worked for some, likely due to its independent server setup. Recovery was observed in regions like India and Southern California by the morning.

According to outage data from DownDetector, 79% of the complaints involved app access, followed by login and website issues. Samsung has not made an official comment regarding the cause.

Although services are gradually being restored, users continue to experience residual problems such as app login difficulties and missing installations. As solutions roll out, many are hoping for a swift resolution to these ongoing issues.
