GIGABYTE Expands DDR4 Motherboard Lineup in Japan With New AMD and Intel Models
GIGABYTE has introduced three new DDR4-compatible motherboards in Japan, giving PC builders more affordable options at a time when DDR5 platforms can still push system costs higher. The latest lineup includes two AMD AM4 motherboards and one Intel LGA 1700 motherboard, targeting budget-friendly gaming PCs, everyday desktops, and upgrade builds using existing DDR4 memory.
The new models include the GIGABYTE B450M H ARGB, the GIGABYTE B550 X EAGLE, and the AORUS Shinryu Rin B760 Gen5 DDR4. All three boards are scheduled to reach retail availability in Japan around October 1–2.
The most affordable option in the lineup is the GIGABYTE B450M H ARGB. This motherboard is designed for AMD AM4 processors and supports Ryzen 5000, Ryzen 5000G, Ryzen 4000G, Ryzen 3000, and Ryzen 3000G chips. It is aimed at entry-level users who want a simple and low-cost platform for a basic gaming PC, office system, or home desktop.
The B450M H ARGB features a 4+2 hybrid digital VRM design and comes with two DDR4 DIMM slots. It supports up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory with speeds of up to 2667 MHz. For expansion, the board includes one PCIe x16 slot for a graphics card and one PCIe x1 slot for additional add-in cards.
Connectivity is fairly basic, but suitable for its price range. The rear I/O includes USB Type-A ports, a DisplayPort output, an HDMI port, a PS/2 port, and a Q-Flash Plus button for easier BIOS updates. GIGABYTE has priced this model at 9,980 yen, which is roughly 63 US dollars, making it one of the more accessible options for users building on a tight budget.
For users who want stronger features while still keeping costs reasonable, GIGABYTE is also launching the B550 X EAGLE. This AMD AM4 motherboard uses a full-size ATX form factor and offers a more capable 8+2-phase VRM design with heatsinks, making it better suited for higher-end Ryzen processors compared to the entry-level B450 model.
The B550 X EAGLE also brings native PCIe 4.0 support, which is a major advantage for users planning to install faster NVMe SSDs or modern graphics cards. It includes multiple expansion slots and four DDR4 DIMM slots, allowing up to 128 GB of memory. Supported DDR4 speeds go up to 3200 MHz.
At 19,500 yen, or around 123 US dollars, the B550 X EAGLE sits in a strong position for budget-conscious builders who want a motherboard with better upgrade potential, stronger connectivity, and broader component support than a basic B450 board.
The third motherboard in the lineup is the AORUS Shinryu Rin B760 Gen5 DDR4, built for Intel’s LGA 1700 platform. This board supports Intel Alder Lake, Raptor Lake, and Raptor Lake Refresh processors, giving users a DDR4-based route into modern Intel CPUs without requiring a move to DDR5 memory.
Unlike the two AMD models, the AORUS Shinryu Rin B760 Gen5 DDR4 stands out with a custom character design featuring Rin Kamitaka. It uses a micro-ATX form factor, making it suitable for compact builds while still offering a strong feature set.
Memory support is one of its highlights. The board supports up to 128 GB of DDR4 memory with speeds of up to 5333 MHz, offering much faster memory support than the more affordable AMD models. It also includes modern connectivity options such as WiFi 6E, 2.5 GbE LAN, Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type-C, and multiple USB Type-A ports.
For expansion, the motherboard provides PCIe 4.0 support for SSDs and a primary PCIe Gen 5.0 x16 slot for graphics cards. This gives builders access to newer GPU bandwidth standards while still allowing them to reuse DDR4 memory.
The AORUS Shinryu Rin B760 Gen5 DDR4 is priced at 26,800 yen, or approximately 170 US dollars. While it is the most expensive of the three new boards, it also offers the most advanced connectivity and platform features.
The launch shows that DDR4 motherboards remain highly relevant, especially for users who want to upgrade without replacing their memory. DDR5 adoption continues to grow, but pricing and platform costs can still be a concern for budget builders. By releasing new DDR4-compatible boards for both AMD and Intel platforms, GIGABYTE is targeting users who want value, compatibility, and a practical upgrade path.
For AMD users, the B450M H ARGB offers a low-cost entry point, while the B550 X EAGLE provides better expansion and PCIe 4.0 support. For Intel users, the AORUS Shinryu Rin B760 Gen5 DDR4 combines modern LGA 1700 processor support with fast DDR4 memory compatibility and newer connectivity features.
With prices ranging from around 63 to 170 US dollars, these new GIGABYTE motherboards give Japanese PC builders more flexibility when planning affordable gaming PCs, productivity machines, and upgrade-focused desktops.
