Garmin is pushing out a fresh v22.xx beta update designed to improve performance across several of its newest high-end smartwatches, including the Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Pro, and Quatix 8. The rollout comes shortly after the previous beta release, showing Garmin is moving quickly to polish the software experience for athletes, outdoor users, and anyone relying on advanced mapping and connectivity features.
The new release, labeled Beta Version 22.28, delivers five targeted bug fixes that focus heavily on everyday usability—especially audio behavior, mapping stability, watch face display details, and Wi‑Fi setup. Garmin also notes that Dive and ECG features remain disabled in this beta build, which suggests additional v22.xx beta updates are likely before the company ships the next stable public software version.
Here’s what Beta 22.28 is intended to fix compared to Beta 22.27:
One issue where alert volume didn’t change when adjusting the system volume
A crash that could occur when using the map after using a Z10 or Z30
A problem where the map data screen could disappear after a course recalculated when you went off route
Seconds not appearing on the watch face when the color shift feature was active
Wi‑Fi password entry not showing the English keyboard
Garmin says Beta Version 22.28 has already been released to all eligible devices. If your watch hasn’t received it yet, you can manually check by going to the Main menu, then Settings, System, and Software Update, and selecting “Check for Updates.”
With this update, Garmin is clearly emphasizing refinement—particularly for maps and Wi‑Fi, two areas that matter most on premium adventure watches where navigation reliability and smooth syncing are essential. If you’re enrolled in the Garmin Beta Program and use mapping regularly, this is a notable maintenance release worth installing.
