Garmin Rolls Out New Performance Boost for Pro Smartwatches Ahead of Major Stable Update

Garmin is closing out the week with a fresh software update for several of its top outdoor watches, including the Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8, and Tactix 8. The company has now released Beta Version 21.22, continuing its long-running v21.xx public beta cycle that has been active since late December.

Just a few days ago, Garmin pushed Beta Version 21.20, which delivered two bug fixes. That release was already the seventh v21.xx beta build made available to testers since the beta track kicked off. With more than six weeks of public beta development now behind it, many owners have been watching closely for signs that Garmin is ready to move these improvements into a stable update for everyone.

For now, though, Garmin still doesn’t appear ready to shift v21.xx into the stable software channel. One notable clue is that Beta Version 21.22 continues the approach seen in recent beta releases where Aviation, Dive, and ECG features are disabled, suggesting Garmin may have additional beta builds planned before a final, stable rollout.

That said, the changes between recent beta versions have been getting smaller, which often signals that the software is nearing completion. In this latest update, Garmin focuses on one specific fix: addressing a bug that prevented certain Fenix 8 Pro smartwatches from acquiring GPS when using CIQ apps. For users who rely on accurate GPS tracking through Connect IQ apps for workouts, navigation, and outdoor activities, this is a meaningful quality-of-life improvement.

Garmin reports that roughly half of eligible devices have already received the Beta Version 21.22 download notification. If the rollout follows the usual pattern, the automatic update process should finish over the next few days, bringing the fix to more Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8, and Tactix 8 owners enrolled in the beta program.
