Garmin Fenix 8 Beta 23.26 Arrives With Music, Voice Assistant, and Stability Fixes
Garmin is moving quickly with software updates for its latest flagship smartwatches, including the Fenix 8 series. After releasing System Software 22.43 earlier this week, the company has now pushed out Beta Version 23.26, replacing the short-lived Beta Version 23.25.
The recent stable update, System Software 22.43, arrived on August 18 and focused mainly on security improvements. Although it was part of the interim v22.xx software branch, it still brought important behind-the-scenes enhancements for users who prefer staying on stable firmware.
Meanwhile, Garmin’s beta program has continued to progress. Beta Version 23.25 was released only a few days ago, but Garmin did not provide a detailed changelog explaining what had changed compared to Beta Version 23.24. Now, that build has already been replaced by Beta Version 23.26, which comes with a clearer list of improvements.
According to Garmin, Beta Version 23.26 includes four key changes. One of the most notable fixes addresses a problem in the music app where volume levels were not adjusting correctly. This should improve the experience for users who listen to music directly from their smartwatch during workouts, runs, hikes, or daily use.
The update also fixes an issue affecting the phone assistant feature. With Beta Version 23.26 installed, voice commands should once again be recognized properly, making it easier to interact with a connected smartphone through the watch.
In addition, Garmin has updated translations across the system, which should improve the user experience in supported languages. The company also mentions several fixes for minor issues, suggesting this release is focused on polishing the software and improving overall reliability.
For now, Garmin has not confirmed when the v23.xx software branch will move from beta testing to a stable public release. Historically, Garmin tends to wait until important features such as Dive and ECG functionality are enabled in beta builds before pushing a major stable update. Since both features remain disabled in Beta Version 23.26, it is likely that more beta updates will arrive before the next major stable firmware rollout.
For Fenix 8 users and owners of related Garmin premium smartwatches, Beta Version 23.26 looks like a useful maintenance update rather than a major feature release. It improves music controls, restores voice assistant functionality, refines translations, and smooths out smaller software problems. While it may not be the final step before a stable v23.xx release, it shows that Garmin is actively refining the experience for its newest high-end wearables.
